After replaying the game again the one thing that bothers me besides the shaky cam is the fact they switched the characterization of Alfred and Alexia. Instead of Alfred being this high pitched manic, he has a deep voice and seems to more clever with his traps for Claire and Steve. Alexia on the other hand has the high pitched voice and is now a manic. I always felt in CV that she was in control and that every action had a reason and liked the strong sounding female voice. Both characters are over the top don't get me wrong but think it's a big change from what they were originally.
You're right, ha-ha! In the original game, Alfred was the irritating retard.. Now it's Alexia! (Though, one could argue that Alfred in DSC is still irritating and retarded, and I would have to agree with them. ..) Anyway, I don't care for this swap at all.. *clings to the original CVX*
I expect the RE2/CV stories to be butchered and I expected the characters to not be developed as well as the main games.
However I didn't expect them to butcher any characters (I'm talking the Ashfords). Why change them so much? Served no purpose at all. Would have rather they didn't show much character at all instead of the sorry ones they done.
The Javier scenario just stank. Tied to the rest of the series story in no real way at all, if it didn't happen what changes? Nothing.
Nothing is a good word, it pretty much sums up everything DSC brought to the RE series.
The super-shaky cam was also annoying as hell, ruined the gameplay for me. What is the point of a steady hand/aim when even when perfectly steady the reticle jumps about the screen?
I loved UC, story and gameplay. DSC I find it hard to say anything positve about. Online leaderboards I suppose, but only need look at other online Wii games to see how well things are kept honest (not at all).

Wow, I have to say I am extremely let down by D.C.
It seems so thrown together, the contrast between the quality of Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles is astounding. You can beat the whole game only using the pistol and occasionally stronger weapons for bosses (although, its not needed).
I found the RE2 part of the game the only decent part. The CONSTANT whining and one-liners from Steve made the Code: Veronica section completely un-enjoyable to me. I found the Javier missions to be really trite and ridiculous... especially the final boss.
The camera's shakyness makes it ridiculously hard to aim sometimes. A lot of time, especially during the Code: Veronica scenario you are walking around doing nothing for 50+ seconds.
Not to mention there several typos throughout the game.
Anyway, am I alone or does this game just completely suck?
you're alone.This game was really good.best 50 bucks i have ever spent.

Evidently he's not haha
I can't remember if i commented on the "extreme disappointment" side...but i think i speak for most when i say they were disappointed from the moment it became clear we were getting another on-rails shooter. From then on, it was a case of managing hope and expectations to an acceptably low level.
So far I've played DSC til the end of Game of Oblivion... So I yet have to finish Operation Javier to give a full on veredict, but really, the meaty part and main interest of DSC for me where the remakes of 2 and C:V.
Resident Evil 2 was good. Makes me wonder why in the world Capcom didn't got the balls to do a remake of that great game. I liked Annette's change of heart, she was a bitch in original RE2 and now having this motherly side of her really adds to her character. Claire was a bit over reacted IMO, but as someone already the "holy crap I'm scared" attitude fits since that's her first encounter with BOW.
Resident Evil: CV was bittersweet. I loved "new" Alfred. Giving him more "control" was a really nice change to the high-pitched lame cross-dresser from the original. However Alexia was an epic fail for the times to come. I really, really respected Alexia, was one of the few people who made Wesker scared, and now we get this "Supersweet sixteen" brat? Hell no.
Wesker's small role on C:V was also a turn off. I really loved his dialogue when you enter the dollhouse, and the "I won this game" stuff, but Wesker, like it or not, was a pillar of the C:V(X) storyline and it got reduced to a simple cameo. I think this was intended as Umbrella Chronicles is Wesker's show. Since Leon is the storyteller this time, I think the changes could be justified as him not knowing the whole story.
With that said I'll enjoy DSC as it is: Resident Evil in a nutshell. I still have the classics to enjoy them and take the new additions in and the rest with a grain of salt.

As someone who thought that UC was an utter pile of shit, I was pleasantly suprised with DSC.
Even with shaky cam, I found it to be a whole lot more playable than UC. The story was bread and butter resident evil. Spoiler:
I was expecting retcons, but the OJ story was pretty weak. With Manuella shielding Leon... And then her just evaporating in the chopper. And strangely, Krauser doesn't react to this at all.

Spoiler:
He just spent the day fighting zombies, giant mutated monsters and watched a girl turn her blood into fire...is a girl evaporating really so shocking anymore?
To be honest, I actually loved most of the redone music. Although, I agree, that remake was really... anti-epic compared to the original.
About 'Operation: Javier's' story, I thought it was good, but had so much missed potential.
Spoiler:
Manuela using the T-Veronica to her advantage with her flammable blood was cool, IMO. However, I really want the ending with her dying to be canon. Although I didn't want her to die, I found her fading into embers more dramatic.
If only they showed more on Krauser's arm, or his 'death'.
I honestly believe that the music in this game, as a whole, beats the music in any other RE game. The music from the Game of Oblivion section in particular was amazing.
I'm mostly disappointed that
- the last 2 chapters were basically the same as the 2 before it, only harder. UC and DC both had 22 chapters, but at least in UC each one was fairly original (yes they revisited locations, but they weren't *exactly the same*)
- The kill house. Seriously that just went on way too long. That chapter was the longest one in the game when it didn't need to be.
I don't know how much of a space constraint they had left, but yeah. It would've been nice getting 2 more original chapters and maybe flesh out the CV section a bit more.
Hell I really wanted to see a remake of the Guy-in-lab-getting-killed-by-bandersnatch cutscene...
The uploader in the second video wrote "A theme I made" in the description and states that he likes making music in his profile...
Hell I'm looking at the boss fight right now (I recorded footage of most the game), and yeah, there are a lot of gunshots covering it, but I'm about 99% sure that's *not* the one in the game...

I agree. CV(X) was probably the longest "classic" RE game, yet it was summarized in less chapters than RE2 was. If it wasn't for Capcom's recent hard-on for co-op, I'm certain we would have gotten a few 'Chris on Rockfort Island' chapters, and maybe even one more showing more of the Antarctic research terminal.

It's not; the in-game version is completely different.
I've only played about an hour and a half into it, but right off the bat and straight through up to where I am at the moment...yeah, disappointed have to say. I haven't played/seen Umbrella Chronicles in quite a while, but graphically Darkside looks crap to me. Are the R.P.D areas up to par with what was in Umbrella Chronicles? They seem rather sloppily put together, dunno. Could be, that I haven't played a "Wii" game since whenever Umbrella Chronicles came out, and sold it shortly afterwards.. so, maybe they were just as bad, dunno.
For the story or the writing, again Umbrella seemed really well put together, Darkside seems to be just a re-hash so far anyways. ...maybe I should get further into the game before putting it down too much....it does get better? right?
