Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition Information Thread

RE5: Gold Edition is an updated version of RE5 released last year, with more stuffs. It'll be released pretty soon, and here I have compiled all the things they have added just so you have no need to dig around.

CONTENT DISTRIBUTION METHOD

The additional features will be added in more than one way.

1)All of them will be available on the disc (with the main game) and will be released for the PS3 under the title Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition (Biohazard 5: Alternative Edition). For the 360 version of Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition, the extra contents will not be available on the disc, but you will get the download tokens instead. There will be no disc version of the game in Japan.

2)They will also be distributed online (XBLA & PSN)

NEW SCENARIO: LOST IN NIGHTMARES

Playable Cast: Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield

An additional short scenario which depicts BSAA members Jill and Chris (formerly STARS) in the Spencer Mansion in the year 2006 to arrest Albert Wesker. We get to learn of their fates in the original RE5 but this scenario will show what happen the moment they stood into the building. Expect to fight against a brand new enemy made specifically for this scenario.

NEW SCENARIO: DESPERATE ESCAPE

Playable Cast: Jill Valentine, Josh Stone

In the original RE5, after Chris and Sheva freed Jill from Wesker's control, Jill made her way out to safety. We learnt that she managed to meet up with Josh Stone, a surviving BSAA colleague of Chris and Sheva, and both Jill and Josh saved Chris and Sheva in the ending of RE5. This scenario will show what happened to Jill and Josh after they left Chris and Sheva, right all the way to the ending of RE5.

THE MERCENARIES REUNION

VERSUS

The VERSUS is split into SLAYER and SURVIVORS.

SLAYER is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majini, basically competitive Mercenaries mode.

SURVIVOR is a mode where the players must hunt each other.

Players may also play Team Survivors or Team Slayers in which there are four players, two on each side.

Capcom haven't tell us anything regarding this feature yet, but we do know that they are additional figurines which you can collect in-game.

Crap! I was expecting samurai edge and Px4 handguns to be usable in story mode heck no new weapons as well -_-. Not to mention Ada and Leon being in merc mode. Oh well better than nothing I guess.

Well that's a good thing for me haha, considering I only own a PS3 in the current gaming console.

xfactor, there's also the Asian version (from HK) for PS3. Like the Japanese version it's called 'Alternative Edition' and is released on the same day (Feb 18). But it's a bit cheaper than the Japanese version and is all in English.

That's the one I've pre-ordered (I have the Asian version of the original RE5, so my save file will be compatible).

From the looks of those dates, I'll actually be playing all the content before the 2nd DLC is available.

I'm just going to purchase the the first DLC episode/costume pack, then buy Gold Edition. I can wait a week to play the Jill/Josh scenario but I'm pumped for Lost in Nightmares. The biggest thing I'm excited for is the mansion and barry ( both of which have been replicated from the remake, my favorite of the series). So we will have to purchase the figures? Good thing I have gazillion dollars saved up....that's in-game purchase right?
