Lost in Nightmare / Desperate Escape [Spoiler Discussions go here]
Well, I beat Desperate Escape on Pro earlier today. What a mess!
Spoiler:
My partner and I just ran past everything, avoiding every enemy to just get through the area and do what needed to be done with the gates. It was a good tactic until we reached the helipad at the end. It took at least twenty retries before we made it out alive. I think it's fair to say I won't be playing on that mode ever again.
Pro and Veteran suck out all the fun out of the scenario. I had no problems with Pro on Lost in Nightmares. In fact, I thought Normal was too easy, and when I was replaying just for fun, I typically stuck with Veteran. Not with Desperate Escape, though. I enjoy Normal just fine.
Really, though, you're pretty much fucked in Desperate Escape if you don't find a Sniper. Otherwise, there's no quick and easy way to kill the Majini operating the station things.
Whatever. Now that I've earned all the achievements, I think I'll finally enjoy some Mercenaries Reunion!
it was ok it aint nothing special I still think Lost in Nightmare was alot better than DE I was dissopinted with the fact there was no files but apart from that it was fun to play im going on Vetren next to see how challengeing it is
I think DE is ok if you like a action shooter game like Re 5.If you more like a classic "horror" game like re 1,LIN will be the better download.
PS:I need a good partner to play DE on pro..
wtf wast of 5 bucks ? what did you smoke ? De was and is freaking sweet remember its only some extra stuff they actully lising to us fans and made it for us you should just be glad that they did that now go cry in a conor xD with your Loss of 5 bucks
Bahaha.
No, I think the question is, what are you smoking? You actually think the DLC was Capcom listening to the fans? Maybe in how they delivered the content through DLC via that Capcom Unity poll, sure. But the content? LIN and DE came across as nothing more than second-hand leftovers from the RE5 cutting room floor, with almost ZERO effort in really polishing them up. LIN was tolerable at least, but DE level design is shit. They might as well have tagged DE with the label "Made with 95% recyclable enemies, weapons, cutscenes."
Just because Capcom made it and I should just be "glad" they did for "us", doesn't give them a free pass on quality. What are you, a mindless Capcom frenzied drone? Even if the two DLC's are "extra", I still expect "quality" and "fun" for my five fucking dollars. I'd much rather have paid 10 for each episode if it meant a much better end product.
What's sad is that RE4's Seperate Ways blows both DLC's out the water. Sure, the majoirty of SW reuses allot of area's from the main game, but it certainly felt more important, not to mention you got variety, and two kick ass boss fights in Krauser and the Human form of Saddler. Hell, even a couple new weapons in the form of the Ada's crossbow and sawed off shotgun. What did we get for DE? Uncreative, repeative drivel. Sorry, no dice Capcom. Hell, even Ada's Assignment was better than anything DE hs in it.
Although, it's funny you think I'm going to go cry in a conor over the loss of 5 bucks. Naw, it just helps to me think more now before buying another Capcom related product, because the more and more I think about it, it seems most the great, talented guys responsible for most of Capcom's best games are now at Platnium Games. I'm honestly starting to feel like ChrisRedfield29 when he says he doesn't want another RE. I mean, where's the freakin quality control?

So I take it you think that rebuying Resident Evil 4 at full price for a a downgraded port on an entirely different platform than the one you already own the game on, in order to get a tiny new scenario (which levels are mostly just lifted out of a year old game) was a better solution than $5(x2) for downloading new chapters (with new levels) to an equally old game (roughly a year old) for a platform you already have the game on? (and let's not forget Mercs Reunion being tagged and bagged into the bargain too)
Besides, although there weren't any new models per say in Desperate Escape, it still used the Mercenaries Reunion Fat Guy Majinis w/weapons. And the return of the randomized items and enemies is a nice welcome. Haven't seen that since... uhm... I forgot when we even saw that feature the last time...
Although I must say I agree, it would've been cool if there were some new weapons... or as I first suspected/feared, that you'd be fighting an ndesu on foot at the end of the second area (Yeah. I honestly feared I'd be fighting some sort of large boss monster)
My only real complaint with the whole deal is that there are no figures for Doug and The Keeper. Instead you get a set of a"pairs". One for each of the pay DLC.

No It Didn't Fail ,You Failed.
It's All Cool With me Because I played it Right, I love This Chapter
Wow, you're post just made me laugh. Sheesh, you'd think I'd just personally attacked a member of your family. . .oh. . . oh wait. . .Jill's in your avatar pic. . .nevermind.
You could at least come up with an actual counter-argument instead of three short grammatically incorrect sentences. Really shows your maturity.

Well, that was part of the reason why I traded in my gamecube copy of RE4 when I bought the ps2 version. Though your comparison is a bit shady considering there was no "DLC" market back in those days, so it's not exactly the best comparison. Though yeah, I do think it was better, becaues the overall product was better made, produced etc. Although, I do have to agree, Mercs Reunion is the thing that salvages both the DLC packs. A definite improvement over the original RE5 mercs--just wish you could mix old characters with new characters. Or even in versus.
Oh, and ah, I was really hoping for SOME kind of new endboss too, Carnivol. I hated the end, but it would have been just as equally lame if it had been a recycled leech/ndesu, though I wouldn't have minded a Ndesu fight if it meant it was on on foot battle--no machine guns allowed!
rehunk88, can you please sort your keyboard out before looking down upon others please? It appears to be missing a number of keys...that, or you should just try harder in school.
I don't see why people are getting bent out of shape over other people's different opinions over who likes it and who doesn't. Isn't that Messageboard 101? Personally, i think expansions are great and take the game from an 8/10 to a solid 9/10 (maybe 9.5 even), but that's only because it delivers everything i expected it to.
There's nothing wrong with it not matching other people's expectations.
We started with Vet. It was a pain in the ass but we were doing well until she had to stop the game to make a phone call, so we had to start over...and we started on Normal, which ended up being way too easy. The areas leading up to the helipad finale were pretty fun, but the finale itself was really simple and easy.
Overall, wasn't bad, wasn't great. Mercenaries mode holds more value to me than these scenarios.

I'd go with this too actually. Any sort of boss battle would've been better than the Mercs On A Roof ending we had.

I'm not trying to argue , I'm just trying to tell you That It's Just Your opinion
Desperate Escape is hardly a waste of $5. As someone else mentioned, you not only get the episode, but 2 new playable characters for Mercs Reunion and, if you're into them, the new figurines.
I played DE again on Normal and Amateur, for the heck of it, and it seems a bit better to me right now. (Still hate, hate, hate Doug, though.) The Veteran (and when I get around to it, Professional) mode just was very infuriating because of how cheap the game feels with the rocket bombardment and the enemies taking large chunks of health with their sometimes extraordinarily accurate attacks. Not to mention the overly dark areas in certain places on the maps are irritating. I am still disappointed with the DLC episode, however it remains a decent addition to RE5.
LIN and DE are both just okay (to me), but I can easily say that I would prefer LIN anyday over DE.
Either way, everyone should just be happy to have a reason to be playing RE5 (and discussing it, civil or not) again. I say "happy" because if you hated RE5, then why would you be paying more money to Capcom for its add-ons?
