Just finished a playthrough of it, and I am absolutely floored.
Spoiler:
It was such a nostalgia trip. I loved the puzzles, I loved the general familiarity of the rooms. Reading back at what everyone else in the thread wrote, I need to play through it again so I can get monster encounters in the main area. The underground section was a little dragging, but I'm sure I'll get through it faster now that I know what I'm doing.
I tried out the new Mercs as well, and was very approving of Barry in general, His attacks are the greatest things I have ever seen.
I also loved LOVED the itchy tasty file. I NERDGASMED SO HARD.
But I do wish they told us more about Alex. I admit I was confused at first, because they never gave us an idea as to what Alex Wesker's age was in the RE5 file about his leading Project W. So I was a little thrown at first when I was reading those files going "wait he means Alex Wesker, who naturally had to have been older when Wesker was born because of the project, and Wesker's like 48 now..."Last edited by Yzak; 02-18-2010, 10:44 PM.

Just played through with REmaster, and getting ready to do another playthrough with Valentinesdead...but my thoughts:
Episode is terrific, as most others have said. The atmosphere is top notch, and the nostalgia trip is very welcome.
My one question (for now) is this:
Spoiler:
How did the Itchy Tasty diary teleport to Spencer's Estate? As REmaster said, did Sergei pick it up and bring it along? Haha.
Or did I just miss something explaining it being there? Also...did I miss that issue being covered already in this thread? Hope not...
I thoroughly enjoyed playing LIN...I just wish it were longer. It's length, while adequate, seems like not enough when you are given such a fantastic taste of new school applied to old school so well.
Spoiler:
Nice music over the results screen. That's a remix of sorts of the RE1 save room theme.Last edited by Jill's Boob; 02-19-2010, 02:46 AM.

Lost in Nightmares
Spoiler:
Man, the Keeper's Diary (I can't even imagine how that got there; did Spencer somehow read it in its original form, and being so inspired he copied it?), the Alfred/Alexia style room, the fixed cameras, the dog scene homage, etc. The nostalgia was satisfying as hell without being overdone (perhaps the crank motif was pushing it). I enjoyed the portrait of Spencer appearing in different parts of the mansion, the presence it instilled was great. Also the moment midway through (I think before or after you save Jill from the ceiling trap) where you hear Spencer playing piano upstairs, phew. I'm glad they didn't just give us reference after reference; the atmosphere stood on its own. While the sewer part had a nice buildup I think it sunk a little towards the end. I thought the crank traps were fun though and yes that Keeper is a bastard (never ran into him in the mansion though, I played veteran). Didn't care for the Wesker fight
Mercs Reunion
Spoiler:
I have to say, for all the people (including myself) who were skeptical of Excella; WE JUST WEREN'T REEEADY-*gets shot* Her 3-round burst pistol is insanely good. She ended up being my favorite character (besides her flash rounds, don't really care about that).
Not much I can say about Barry that hasn't already been said in this thread. Feels great to play as him, I think it's a good way to shoehorn him in the game (heh, imagine if he became BSAA's "merchant" instead of getting just a menu...) and I appreciate that Capcom did it.Last edited by GuardhouseMusic; 02-19-2010, 01:00 AM.

Just finished...
Spoiler:
It was cool. Definitely enjoyed the first half more than the second half. Walking around the mysterious mansion with no enemies around was really fun, very nostalgic and kinda creepy. After that, once the Guardians came out, it began to get a little monotonous.
The first time we got attacked by a Guardian, though, was when I was turning a crank or looking at a wall or something...and I had heard the sound of the chains jingling and the grunting and all that, but I figured it was below us. That's when the giant anchor came swinging down three inches from Chris's left ear, and I nearly jumped out of my seat. Pretty cool scare.
The puzzle with the colored cranks and the Guardians was fucking annoying, especially since me and Rosetta were playing without the GPS for our first playthrough. We probably wasted a good 30-40 minutes since we(mainly me, for some reason) kept getting grabbed and impaled by those fuckers.
The Wesker fight was kinda lame...basically let him kick your ass for a few minutes and then counter-attack him. Plus, no extra cutscene or dialogue with DC Douglas or anything like that. I wasn't expecting anything like that, but it would've been nice.
Likes: exploring the first few areas of the mansion, reading all the files.
Dislikes: the colored crank puzzle, Wesker fight.
Overall...it was cool for a first playthrough. I don't see it having much replayability other than for trophies, though.Last edited by Vector; 02-19-2010, 01:02 AM.

LOL I was almost expecting zombies in the game because of the nostalgic enviroment. xD
