I thought being given the choice of camera angle would be nice. I personally didn't give a damn about camera angles, in fact there was many times I found it quite annoying. I am however in total agreement that there should be a full return of the T-Virus. Whether that's through RE6 or a RE 2& 3 remake, I could care less. At this point I would just enjoy seeing a return of survival horror.

It's all about testing the market, and trying new things, and sometimes going back to old things. There is NOTHING to DISCOUNT the possibility. What are you able to read Capcom's minds or something?
I understand that these newer games with the free camera are bringing in sales. I get that. Now, had you said, it is "highly unlikely", fine. But to say that the static camera angles are NEVER going to come back sounds very ignorant.
And you really got it all wrong. Capcom isn't going to do what Capcom wants to do--Capcom going ot do what they think the consumer-base wants them to do, and I say consumer base because I'm sure RE5 didn't sell 5 million copies just on hardcore RE fans, now did they? If Capcom wanted to do what Capcom wanted to do, they be out of business. That goes for any company, in any industry.
Does a black hole exist in your head about the fact that there was a TON of bitching and complaining about RE5's control scheme? As ridiciulous as that was, do you REALLY think Capcom will go back to an even crappier, more archaric control scheme that's even way less accessible than RE5's? You can rattle on about possibities and whatever, but the video game market doesn't operate in a space vaccum. It is possible? Well anything is possible(unless you take every little word I say quite literally), we could sit here all day talking about what's possibile but it would be so completely and utterly retarded for Capcom to switch back to that system for the main numbered games--the ones they count their piggy bank on--that it might as well be considered "never".
But spin-off's, Wii-remakes, portable titles, XBLA/PSN side games? I wouldn't discount those possiblities, that would be foolish. Hell, I kinda hope they do a Re downloadable title with the traditional controls and traditional camera angles and traditional, but HD, pre-rendered backdrops filled with good ole zombies again. Like the example you used, look at what they're doing with Megaman 9 and the future 10 for downloadable titles. But those are all different markets than the console retail one. The 60 bucks a pop market. That's where the main numbered games fall, so yeah, the "classic" control and camera style isn't coming back in those games anytime soon. Take that statement however you will.

Have them fumble a weapon, have reloads take more than a split second, have them move slower the more injured they are like in the older games...give it a better sense of terror.
But, eh, it'll somehow wind up probably being zombies knowing Capcom. It doesn't really matter to me, as long as it's fun. And bloody. Yes, very bloody.
But I agree with you about a more realistic, more vunerable protagonist approach--similar to the REmake tone of things, before RE turned into a twisting tale of larger-than-life hero's and villians duking it out over hyperbole styled plot points.Last edited by valentinesdead?; 02-22-2010, 02:32 PM.sigpic

Maybe this easter egg will give them that idea for the next title. Not only would you be able to choose between either one, it would also enhance the replay value.
(I'm almost 100% positive that Operand has NOT played LIN [not even sure about RE5], as just last week he was bitching about Capcom still releasing newsworthy information about RE5. And complaining about said subject matter in an RE5 thread, of all things.)
My take on the easter egg - it's a neat trip down nostalgia lane, but after a few minutes I changed back to the standard camera as it fucking sucked trying to play LIN with fixed camera angles. I can't imagine the optional camera (with new controls) appealing to very many, even the staunchest "classic RE" diehards.

It is very awkward to aim and shoot in Classic Camera mode, but I couldn't stop gawping at the Nostalgia behind it.
Then came 'it', and I nearly died because I couldn't fucking aim properly.
So I'm a yes and no for this idea, partially to no, LiN is perfect the way it is, it is rather scary both ways.
So all I opt for them is to make a scary RE again.

I''m actually curious to know how many RE fans here made it past a few minutes of the initial fanboy/girl excitement with the controls/camera angles? Like I said, I tried it but after a few minutes I had to switch back.
If I want to truly enjoy static camera angles and tank controls, I'll just play REmake. That game to me is the ultimate classic RE experience.

And LIN does work better for tension with the new RE controls, as the corridors are very narrow and you feel very constricted. I am very pleased with the little changes that are in LIN:
- claustrophobic environment
- sound being terrifying (heavy breathing of Guardians, piano playing mysteriously in the manor, dogs barking outside, Guardians breaking walls down away from your view, etc.)
- lightning flashing through windowsLast edited by Jill's Boob; 02-22-2010, 03:37 PM.

If RE6 had the option to switch between behind-the-shoulder and static camera, the static camera would probably have to include the auto-aim feature of the classic RE games to be effective. Of course, if Capcom follows the action-packed path they've been on for years now, the static camera would make little sense. I think the option to switch would only make sense in a game that focused a little less on the combat and more on exploration and immersing yourself in the environment.
As far as pre-rendered backgrounds go, if they could make environments look as good as they did with Remake in 2001, imagine how they could look now!Mass production? Ridiculous!

Or heavy action oriented scenes could be over-the-shoulder and puzzle/exploring scenes fixed cam. There are ways to make this work. That's what gaming's all about.

I gotta say Rosetta, using Zombies again would be taking a step backwards, even if they made them vicious and fast(nothing against crimson heads). As we all know, RE's real series name is Biohazard, and that term is a board and loose one. A biohazard could be a lot of things, and I think if Capcom wants the next RE game to be cutting-edge and industry standard setting, well, it's time for a completely new kind of biohazard to haunt players.
But, eh, it'll somehow wind up probably being zombies knowing Capcom. It doesn't really matter to me, as long as it's fun. And bloody. Yes, very bloody.

The action is far greater than any "fear". The only times I fear are when I'm playing in Mercs with a character that doesn't have a magnum and I'm going up against two chainsaws or a red executioner.
LiN was said to have very few weapons with very little ammo. True, that was the case. However...the guardians were the only real enemies to kill, and that was completely optional until you had to crush them, in which case you weren't allowed to use guns anyway. I haven't played or watched anything from Desperate Escape, so I'm not going to discuss that at the moment. The nostaliga won't feel the same after a while. First time around, I was uber excited, second time around....it just didnt have the same feel. I can't even imagine how normal and expected it will feel the third time.
If the new games had a limit to the weapon types, no upgrades, and little ammo with a horde of monsters (zombies, parasitic beings, etc), thing could find a way to return slightly to the terror.sigpic
