I saw my friend playing the original RE when I was about 14, and I thought it looked really cool. I didn't have a PS, so I got RE2 on N64 and was blown away. Because of this, RE2 is the most "classic" game in the series for me. Various parts of it (e.g. giant alligator, lickers bursting through random materials) always bring back childhood memories. Also, it took me a while after owning it for me to even realize that there was a "B" scenario! How hilarious is that!?

I played RE3 in 2000 at a girlfriend's house, and while it didn't have the same feel as RE2, I thought it was cool that you played as the "chick from the first game." I also thought that going "back" to the police station was nice (at the time I wasn't aware of the RE timeline).

One of my Dreamcast-owning friends first showed me CV, and I noticed how dark the game's story and atmosphere were when compared to RE2 and RE3 (this game was to become my favorite title in the series in both aspects). This same friend also showed me parts of the Remake, such as the residence and aqua ring... I remember thinking the part with the oil pressure puzzle and the sharks was intense. I also saw the RE0 demo, and I thought that being on a train and fighting a giant scorpion (while making little sense) was exciting.

When I got a GameCube for Christmas of 2002, I got Remake and RE0 alongside it. This is when I first got into the mythology of the series. I bought all the GameCube RE titles (RE2, RE3, CVX) and was thrilled to see them release them all on one console. I later got a PS2 so I could get the Outbreaks (which I still love to this day) and Dead Aim (which I don't really love at all). I also got all the books, and even a few action figures.

I had tons of gripes when RE4 first came out about it "not being like the classics," but today I love RE4 and view IT as a classic (especially the village sections). I might even feel the same about RE5 in a few years! The Wii-exclusive rail shooters were nice "semi-additions" to the series, although I still wish they weren't rail shooters so I could play through the new content with free-roam (I liked the Umbrella's End and Operation: Javier material). Nevertheless, the rail shooters (particularly DSC) have that nostalgic atmosphere about them, which I enjoyed.

Never much cared for the movies, though. The first one was okay, but that's only because they didn't really butcher any of the characters we know and love.

    Mass production? Ridiculous!

I was like seven and I watched my dad play RE 2 and whenever he got killed by some zombies I screamed out and was like, "NO DADDY!" thinking he was actually dying. It is kinda funny now. I played it because the aspect of it being scary made me want to face that fear. Ever since the day I first played it I had continuous nightmares with no end all the way until RE 0 came out. Afterwards I loved the story for the storyline. It's very engaging and full of tiny little details that easily can be missed the first playthrough.

Back in the day a gas station had RE2 for rent, so I just tried it out and never looked back.

I first had my eyes set on Resident Evil back in '98 when I got my Playstation for Christmas (I was 7 at the time). At the time, I let my brother take my new Christmas gift to his room because we were excited to hear how a game would be like in surround sound lol.

After a while, I got a little annoyed because I never had a chance to really use it since it was always in his room, but every now and then, I pushed open his door very little to see if he was playing and when I did, he was playing a game that we didn't even get, which was Resident Evil 2. I was like "Whoa...! What is this? It looks awesome!" Then outta nowhere I got scared for some reason, stepped away from the door and closed it back up.

I was curious though and I wanted to see more. Then I told my parents like "Oh, he's playing something cool and I wanna watch!" and my parents asked if I can go inside and watch, but was told from them that it was "too violent, bloody and gorey" (as said from my brother, but my parents were always be against me seeing anything violent and it was weird because I always watched action-packed, obviously, violent movies). I thought it wasn't fair so I decided I'd try it out when he wasn't home. Me being the kid, started it up and as soon as the picture of the zombie came up on screen that scared me, I was like "Screw this!" and just turned it off. I was still interested in the game though and still peeked into my brother's room to see what else happened.

I believe after a year, I finally pulled myself together and started playing RE2 myself...IT WAS AWESOME! I was in love with Resident Evil after that. I remember I tried RE1, but it was too difficult for me though and then my brother was getting excited for Code Veronica when we got our Dreamcast.

Ever since RE2 though, I've been trying to get through all the Resident Evil games, even though I was scared to play them.

My girlfriend brought over her PS1 and rented the original game on easter 96'. We played it for hours without a memory card. Just kept replaying the opening scenes over again and had a blast doing it. I was hooked for life on both of them .

First got a PS1 in late 1996, my uncle came over and we all (my dad too) went to rent some games. My uncle noticed the long box version of Resident Evil 1 and said "this looks like it might be good. It looks scary!" so we rented it. Seeing the cover with Chris and the spiders made me at first think it would be a game where you just fight giant spiders, little did I know the spiders were only one of many different creatures in the world of Resident Evil. When I got home and started playing I was immediately hooked. At that time I didn't have a memory card or even knew what one was for that matter, so everytime I died I had to restart from the beginning which actually made the experience more fun for me.

It wasn't until 1998 that I bought a memory card along with Resident Evil 2.

I reckon I could be getting mixed up here but I'm pretty sure I first saw the trailer, you know the "CENSORED" one on the OPM Demo Disc at my sisters. Her boyfriend (now husband) had a PSX and I was playing through all demos as I only had a SNES maybe N64 not sure for certain but a few weeks later my friend came over with a Saturn and RE1 and we played it like all night and the following day. My brother-in-law got it for the PSX and I eventually got it for the PC first then the others last version I bought was REMake on GCN . . .

When the first game released I played it on on a display machine in a store, I died on the first zombie since I was pressing single buttons trying to see which one would swipe the knife, the intro + fact it had zombies sold it to me though. I think it was the first game I played with cinematic and spoken storytelling, everythign before that just mindless platformers, shooters or text based stories.

Bought every game on release since.

I got into Resident Evil because of a mixture of a strange obsession with drag queens and Final Fantasy X.

My favorite voice actor from Final Fantasy X, Alex Fernendez (who voiced Seymour Guado) also voices Carlito from Dead Rising. So I started looking into Dead Rising. I was on a Dead Rising message board when someone said Carlito looked like Luis Sera from Resident Evil 4. So I was all, "Well Carlito is a badass so I'll go see who this Luis guy is." So I picked up RE4 for the PS2 and played through a bit of it.
Hmm, we share similar interests: The only reason I even remotely liked Final Fantasy X was because of Maester Seymour...I always go for the weird characters. And you clearly share some obsession for the Ashford family. Interesga.

I actually didn't get into Resident Evil until I was sixteen. I remember at the time, Nintendo had a promo out that if you purchased a Gamecube, you could pick one of four games for free. I remember it was Resident Evil: Zero, Metroid Prime, I think a Zelda game, and something else that was clearly of no interest. I like Metroid, but wasn't in the mood for that puzzle type of game at the time, so I picked up Resident Evil: Zero. I think what sucked me in was Wesker (I know, shocker there...So many newbies are always like "LLLOOOLLLZ WESK3R IS T3H MEGA AWESOMEZ!!!")...I liked the evilness of the character, and just the general premise of an evil corporation releasing diabolical chemicals, so that prompted me to get Resident Evil (Remake), and I just slowly worked my way through until here we are.

Though I have to say CODE: Veronica has become a part of me; I use the name 'Alexander Ashford' for nearly everything that requires a username or whatever. Its pretty much become my second name as sad as that may sound.

My uncle who works in the industry used to live with my family, so as a kid I used to watch him play RE1 despite me getting nightmares from it. It was 1996- I was 11 then, and I've been an avid fan ever since.

I think playing a Resident Evil Game may be my first memory.

I remember my brother got it one Christmas and I would have been about 4 and I saw the first zombie and was like "wow". I eventually played (probably a few months later) and got to the dogs in the hallway where they jump in and thats where I got too scared and turned the game off.

Now, I've played every single game in the main series. Awesome games.
