Just thought I'd clear that one up to avoid misunderstandings. If that was translated from the Inside of Biohazard The Darkside Chronicles book, then there is no clear indication of the organization being the only rival company. Unlike English, the language doesn't have clearly distinguished definite and indefinite articles, so unless they worded it "yuiitsu no" or something similar, it can be translated both "the rival company" and "a rival company".

      Perhaps heh.

t-Alexia is mentioned as being the modified strain taken from Alexia's body. Our theory on Project Umbrella was right all along. Prime Blue, would you be able to give this a translation? It seems to be the source for where Archives mentions that T-Veronica was developed using the genes of plants as well as the ant.

The sentence in question says something like the fact that her whole body is carried by "roots" suggests that T-Veronica contains not only ant but also plant genes. It reads faulty, though, I'll check the Archives and see if that looks the same (which it most likely won't). The upper half was taken from the official GC website.

Fits. She's described elsewhere as having "botanic skin" in the Inside Of Biohazard: The Darkside Chronicles book. Archives states:

"The virus created by Alexia was truly brand new, combining DNA from a queen ant and DNA from plants with the Progenitor virus."
Might be different in the original Japanese Archives, but since Archives is entirely info taken from the Kaitaishinsho guides, its unlikely there will be any difference.

The BSAA Remote Desktop which you translated also mentions plants:

"The generation method has become comparatively known, it is said to become attached to the genes of a queent ant and a plant in the Progenitor Virus."
          I guess that seals it.

Also, Chris and Jill's unit in Umbrella's End is specifically stated to be an Anti-Umbrella group, aimed at anti-biohazard/bioterrorism activities. It's the same one mentioned in Archives, and Barry is also a member. It is also one of the foundations of the BSAA. Leon is not a member, although he is affiliated with it by contacting Chris in CODE: Veronica. He was never a part of an anti-Umbrella organization. Bye bye Gaiden/Wesker's Report.

Also on the issue of the rival company, it states in the Steve Monster section of the IOBDSC book that "Wesker took his body to Umbrella's rival company". Every other mention of it is referred to as "the rival company". I can't find a single source apart from the English version of the "No. 12 Albert Wesker" file in RE5 that states there is more than one.

Gaiden was never canon. They just made it to make a fast buck off of the name alone.

Again, if the remarks are all from Japanese sources, it can be translated both as "a rival company" and "the rival company". This is an issue you'll have to discuss with your translator. If he's a professional, he will leave the door open by opting for the ambiguous/safe way and using an indefinite article. That's what I learned, at least.

That's not really my point, my point is that only a single rival organization has ever been identified and referenced in the series in general, so its most likely singular. Otherwise we are referring to hypothetical rival corporations.

                    Just saying.

I still like them both... Wesker's Report is the most recognized of all supplemental materials in the series and GAIDEN tells a good and logical whodunit story that is only hurt by its flawed and cringe-worthy script. They could have fixed that in translation, but they turned it even worse.

More fuel to the fire; Leon was detained by agent/s of the US Intelligence Department. He became a subordinate in it which is how he managed to contact Chris, he had the entire US intelligence community at his disposal. He wasn't immediately recruited into the secret military agency, he performed successful operations in this one first before he was re-assigned.

Great info, News Bot! That really makes me feel more confident about the possibility of still seeing Sherry again in a RE title. I was watching the Degeneration movie this afternoon and then I just realized that Claire probably knows that Sherry is under custody of the government, so that's the reason why she never mentions Sherry in the movie. When I first saw Degeneration I was very upset that Claire did not think about Sherry when she met Rani and tried to protect her at the airport. That was very frustrating because Sherry's epilogue gives the clue thay she thinks too much of Claire.

About Leon having the tools to get in touch with Chris, that fulfills a huge plot hole. How did he know where Chris was but Claire didn't? I mean, she traveled to Europe with the only clue she had about his whereabout, she gets caught and taken as prisoner, all that because she's trying to find her brother, and then she sends a message to Leon and he easily finds and gets in touch with Chris. That was really weird but now things make a little more sense, I think.

So he regained/retained his current position in the government as an agent(like in RE4/Degeneration) right? Just double checking haha.

Thanks Mr. News Bot. Sad, 10 years later from Code Veronica's release date and the answer to solve the whole Leon/Chris/Claire contact issue is resolved.

However, this statement from Claire still bothers me:

"I've got to contact Leon and tell him to let my brother know he's monitored"

How does she know that Leon can contact Chris?
Why is she searching for Chris when she knows that Leon can contact with him?

Umbrella was apparently monitoring Chris's movements. Claire contacted leon in the computer to contact his brother to come pick them up(w/steve), the computer is an umbrella computer and also shows the current location of Chris. It is also mentioned in DSC how Leon was able to get in contact with chris if you wanna find out in the game.

Originally in CODE: Veronica, Umbrella was keeping Chris under surveillance, monitoring his location and movements. All Claire had to do was send Leon that information, and Leon could use it to track Chris down.

Darkside Chronicles changes this, however, so that Umbrella apparently doesn't know Chris' whereabouts, and Leon was already looking for Chris even before he was contacted by Claire. Presumably he began his search almost immediately after being recruited by the government. He also locates Chris before he receives the e-mail from Claire, using his position in the government. He tries to contact Claire but is unable to reach her, because she is imprisoned on Rockfort.

Once he receives the e-mail from Claire, he relays the information to Chris, who asks Leon to put together a rescue team while Chris sets out on his own to find her.
