  • How would you like to be the villain?

    What if you could be the villain? In every Resident Evil game thus far you always get to play as the hero. What if you could instead be the one who releases the virus or steals information?

    Of course, canonically speaking I think that any game involving the player as the villain would have to be non canon. I believe this because it would lead to a lot of disappointment in the story line and plus I think it would leave a lot of endings open for the player. Like, for example, depending on how well you played the game (Based on stealth, remaining health, etc.) then you could either complete the task that Wesker failed to complete (complete...global...penetration...xD) or become another William Birkin and maybe even play as the newly mutated monster until you're killed.

    Still I guess I think you have a good idea... Hunk is technically a bad guy right? Why not play as him? You can fit Stealth, survival, and action and it would make sense.

      I would love to play as Alfred and Alexia.

      It'd be like, a game with two halves, or co-op, or you'd be able to switch. Or something.

      Alfred's levels would be stealth, having to set up traps, pick enemies off from a distance, etc.

      Alexia's levels you'd be able to go all T-Veronica on bitches, it'd be like a beat 'em up.

        (PAL and Japan should have Wesker on the cover as well. PAL has Wesker looking forward at the top with the Umbrella logo to the right, with zombies at the bottom and I think the Japanese one had him in the background behind the other characters).

        I've brought this idea up a few times, considering Umbrella Chronicles - I wouldn't exactly count it completely as it's a limited rail-shooter that follows a completely linear path.

        Personally, I would like to play as the antagonist to provide an additional perspective on the overall objective and/or theme of the game instead of the general protagonist point of view, scatted files or what we're left to assume from in-game examination comments or short dialogue.

        If it as interesting instead of just triggering an event, OR having mutant transformations and/or over-powered character at the beginning of it. I'd like to have some plot and character development which could help further explain things.

        It'd probably work best with a multiple ending and/or open ending type, and depending on the character design/choice then gameplay style could perhaps vary from the standard classic and new gameplay styles.

        In all honesty, I'd like to have interactivity with the environment and some different sorts of things to screw with the protagonist. An example, would be within Demento when the player hides the protagonist in a closet only to leap out in shock that an enemy was in there... Of course, thinking about it - if it was done incorrectly then it could lead to a fairly bad game considering.

        In the end, it could be bit more of a psychological twist that in the end the player discovers that they are NOT the protagonist and instead - they are the exact opposite.

        On the overall, I think it would be interesting if it was done properly.

            Thanks, I just thought it seemed fitting considering the mental state that the antagonists' we get are generally in and thought it'd be a unique outlook on it and with open/multiple endings, there could be room to branch out into more games' in the future (plus, stop complaints about linear endings, character issues... and would give us all another thing to debate on which would be considered the "true" ending).

            It'd be a perfect chance to bring back the sudden choice type of segments that we saw in 3.

            Of course, if the character is overpowered at the beginning then generally... that'd give it away. Another way to do it would be that depending on choices made within the game, we see what the character chooses to only see which could also further mess with some players.

            On the overall, it doesn't need to have monsters to be a horror game. A good psychological aspect which the old games did rely on with general sorts of common fears in contrast to what we've gotten in the past couple of games' with cheap scares - it'd be cool ONLY if it's done properly.

              Oh, dear Satan, I would absolutely love that. I think it would be fascinating to have an Alexia/Wesker battle in which I was playing as Alexia. Plus, I think it'd be cool to have a feature that allows you to mutate after sustaining a certain amount of damage...Ah, yes, I can see it now...*fantasizes*
