Okay, well if anyone wants to go ahead and try that email address contact@darkbiohazard.com to ask for a status update (has DB been cancelled? put on hold? temporarily? indefinately?) then please do. If you're using an email service other then hotmail, maybe you'll get different results. If you email them and get the same results I got, failure delivery notice, then we know there's a real problem. Or if you have any other way of contacting Dominion or C2keo, then by all means, do so, and let us know what you find out.

I send him an e-mail every month or so since I have Dominion's personal e-mail as well. He simply isn't answering at the moment, but no one knows why. So far no response and no one knows why, but it's most likely burnout. He'll likely be back in a while.

Why? 'Cos he's been missing a few months. I know how much this project means to him, and how much is already completed and sitting on his hard drive (and back up drive). I also know about some of the unexpected technical issues he was dealing with. It's much more likely that he's just having a break from being online since he was getting a lot of questions, and a lot of demands for help, and a some flack for not sharing his techniques.

Calm thyself, Darkmoon. I was talking all this jazz because I am sincerely concerned about the status of DB. I do NOT want it to be cancelled or put on hold indefinately (essentially vaporware, the deathknell).
Edit 1: I actually do have a question about DB, if anyone knows the answer, please feel free to chime in. I was wondering if it will have difficulty modes, ie. different modes, for example: easy, normal, hard, real survival mode, etc. Will there be one mode of gameplay difficulty/challenge or as with other resident evil games, multiple modes?Last edited by Shugotenshi; 06-15-2010, 08:05 AM.

Sorry, I was talking to VGM-Collector and his 'but this is as all good mods,a never be' comment. Which I assume was mean as, 'As with all good mods this will never be.'
There will be, I believe, the standard modes for RE2. I don't think an arrange mode is in the works because, well, there's so many other things to do before bonus modes can be thought about.

I'm curious as to whether DB will focus on lonliness and solitude to help strengthen its survival horror. Or if other NPCs will play important, frequent roles. Or is it about one man dealing with all the world, totally alone (which exacerbates the horror element, IMO) in the aftermath of a pestilence. It'll be interesting to see the cast of characters in DB, so far, I've only seen Leon as the main and only character, leading me to believe the game will focus on a solitary state as the world around him has died. Last summer I wrote the DB team and asked about the role of antagonists, specifically Ozwell Spencer (the founder of Umbrella) who had been teased since Resident Evil 1 and many felt was unfairly dealt with by Capcom in RE5. Dominion responded that he would probably try and include Ozwell Spencer in some fashion or another.

No, there has been no cease and desist and the chances of there being one are very slim. This falls into the 'Fair Use' category, the same as something like Brian Clevinger's 8-Bit Theatre which Square never stopped, you'll note. As long as you are not selling anything to do with the company, claiming it's your own work or mis-using it you're usually fine.
And remember - Just because a company issues a Cease and Desist doesn't mean the company is legally right. They're simply trying to scare you into giving in. Games Workshop in the UK uses this tactic all the time. Most people don't dare face a major corperation in court.
