^No, it's all rendered in real-time like the Gamecube version. So everyone can see super-duper Beverly Hills Ninja mack daddy kick-you-in-the-face-motherfucker Leon get the shit kicked out of him by Krauser in his try-to-be-cool mobster outfit.
I think the best ports have been on gamecube, outside that PC if you have the tools and understanding to manipulate the games (skins, details, etc) that have been released on that platform. Gamecube controller <3
The wii ports are good too (especially RE4). I like how the prl gun is a more capable weapon. Ada can use her knife in assignment ada and mercenaries. You can play as other costumed versions of leon and ada in mercs.
And to the guy that asked if the cutscenes were prerendered. I'm not sure. They have a cutscene viewer.
When you play as Leon in the RPD outfit all his RPD cutscenes are there in the game.
The gangster outfit however just reverts back to his default costume in cutscenes except for a few places such as the one in the beginning where he is looked at by the ganado as he approaches the cabin. That one was prerendered in RE4 on ps2 but not on the wii version.
I have been playing the Dreamcast version of Biohazard 3 and have to say it's better than the Gamecube version. It has the 640X480 backgrounds, smooth models, arrange mode, more costumes.

Ya, defiantly, I'm slightly peeved I didn't get the RE2&3 Dreamcast versions back in the day.
On the other hand, at least I there were still better versions of the games I already love to look forward too, something I really needed after the mediocre last couple of releases.
If the GBC version of RE1 was released it would totally win this Failing that i'll say the DS version, simply because i think i've played through it more times than i have other ports.

Agreed. Deadly Silence is the best version of the first game in my opinion, balanced between the pretty hardcore (in retrospect) difficulty of the original and the additions made to future titles. That thing is just a damn joy to play. Plus, I can run through that game as both Chris and Jill Classic Mode on a single DS Lite battery charge.

The character models in the Cube version are fine. As good as the DC version. It's the backgrounds that are lower in resolution. And the quick loading times are tops on the CGN as well. But I agree that the DC version has more to love.

I fail to see how RE2&3 and CODE: Veronica for that matter, load any quicker on the Gamecube. Maybe in a few places like after a cut scene, but all the door transitions are still the same.
I think both the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions of RE2&3 could have had skip-able door transitions like Deadly Silence on the DS.
I like how the FMV's in Bio3 for the GC had about 29-30fps. Really nice video's indeed! Bio2 on DC still had the best FMV's of any other Bio2 port IMO.
I don't mind that the GC version of Bio3 had faster loading times, but the backgrounds look like poo! Super compressed.

That you get faster loading times on SOME of the Cube ports is something speed runners have known for quite some time. Its not a huge difference, though.
However, another advantage that I forgot to mention: the Cube doesn't make as much noise as the DC when it read data. You notice the noise especially with RE games since many parts are silent and lack BG music. And when playing at night, the noise can be annoying. Something to consider when deciding which version is best.
