Lets talk about Resident Evil Afterlife (Spoiler)

Went to see and come out quite surprised on the feeling that it's not that bad of a film compared to apocalypse and extinction. Biggest praise for me was the music in the film and the contrast use of lighting. Best parts from my taste.

There was probably four of five moments I had with the film with "god mode", but then I come to the conclusion that this would of happened anyhow since of the past films and action having to be a part of the film to keep that audience happy. Weskers' fight was not bad but quite a let down on how he got defeated. It felt something from out of power rangers. Also got to like how good Jill valentine looked at the end. Bets on Spencer being the big bad for the next (and hopefully final part) film in this Alice arc.

I enjoyed the film. It was entertaining, much more so than Extinction which just bored me shitless. It was a very fun film. I enjoy it in the same way I enjoy RE4 - don't think too much about how fail some elements of it are, and it's actually quite an entertaining experience. The film starts off with loads of super Alices that are pulling off matrix like moves, she can pretty much clear an entire room with telepathy, but she loses her powers. She still does backflips and runs around all over the place and does stunts, but she doesn't have super strength and can't use telepathy anymore. No, Wesker doesn't blow up the country at the start of the film either. He just purges the Umbrella facility, with which we see a huge explosion go off, the city get levelled, and a massive gaping hole where the Umbrella facility used to be.

I must answer some of your criticisms though, Karui. I mean, you complain that Wesker can't survive a small bomb. This is the same type of bomb which levelled an entire secure underground complex (and a city) at the start of the film. Hardly a little bomb. Film Wesker also survived a direct shot to the head, another direct shot to the head at close range with the shotgun (to the point where he had a gaping hole in his head with all his brains blown out), and 10+ rounds to the torso. Yet you say he's not superpowered ENOUGH? I thought it was very OTT that any living being in a film can survive having their brain blown out of their skull.

I also thought the burrowing Majini idea was quite good. It was original, and a suprise, at least. I'd much rather that than just have Majinis do everything zombies do, except have stuff come out of their mouths. The tunnelling idea added something new to the mix and it made for some genuine jumpy moments, crawling around in tunnels with nothing but a flashlight. One part made Gareth jump quite a bit in the tunnel bit.

I can't see how it's been lazy either, really. The whole thing was filmed in 3D, and I thought we've always known that the movie RE universe is separate from the game RE universe, and its never tried otherwise. The Hive, the mansion of the first film and Alice all have nothing to do with the game universe, the plot of the second is loosely based on RE3 but still separate, Extinction has absolutely NOTHING to do with the games at all, so honestly, what were you expecting?

I had a good time watching it and it was an entertaining film. Much better than Extinction imo. The film had a good atmosphere, good lighting, good action scenes, a good OST, and was an enjoyable watch. Probably on par with the first RE film, slightly better than the second, much better than the third.

before THAT whole 'explanation', I was willing to give the movie a, "Massively stupid but fun" rating. That just...raped the story TOO much for me. From T-Veronica to keep him steady to eating DNA?

Like others have said, it certainly isn't as bad as Extinction, but it's still wall bangingly awful. You barely notice her powers gone, she still is a god-mode sue. Watching Wentworth trying to play Chris all sly like a bad boy was giggle worthy. Luther was basically Chris' character in another form, he acted like the boy scout Chris we know. xD What a waste of Sienna...poor girl. <3 Was I the only one thinking, "This is our Irvine" when sleazebag started talking?

I practically shouted, "Full him with with bullets bitches, Wesker ain't gonna die that...way. Oh wow, his death in the movies was as is death in the video games. A completely half-assed deus ex machina. Seriously, Wesker coul've barreled through the plane, landed in the water, and would've been fine.

I admit it, I did squee like a stupid fangirl at the word-for-word camera angle-for-camera angle scene ripped from RE5. One of the only good parts. I DO however, praise the soundtrack and its use of 3D.

Christ what an awful, awful film. I just left the cinema at a loss for words really. What is going through Anderson's head when he's writing these things?

I can't be bothered going through my million and one gripes with this film but I will ask just what was the executioner exactly? Was he just a zombie, or what? And what was the point of taking Alice's powers away and making her 'more human' when she carried on as though she was superhuman for the rest of the movie anyway?

The 3D will be the only saving grace of this film at the box office I think.

Just saw it. Long story short, I did enjoy this movie based on the franchise we love so much.

I liked the little homages to the fans of the game, namely having the RE5 sheva/chris/wesker recreated fight scene, not to mention having only the Redfields on screen as they "kill" Wesker.

Wentworth's portrayl of RE5 Chris was actually pretty good. Only problem I had was the way he held the gun sometimes- looked way too stiff. Also, on that note, Anderson loves dual pistols doesn't he?

Sienna's reprise as Jill: I wasn't shocked when they held off showing her during the credits. But let me tell you, for me, it was well worth the wait. Sienna looks amazing as Jill (RE5). I actually laughed at the fanservice they gave, namely the pan shots of Sienna's womanly figure, and the "device". Sure, I bet everyone was looking at the "device". In any case, I'm glad that she'll be an antagonist (protagonist?) in the next one.

Femme fatale: Mila and Ali vs. The Executioner.

Roberts' Wesker. He did a fine of capturing Weskers persona. That being said, it's hard to take Weskers' persona seriously in a hollywood movie/an actors portrayl. Especially to an audience who aren't familiar with the games.

My gripe with the movie is that there was way too much slow motion. A few is fine, but it got to a point where you just stare at the screen, wondering when the speed will pick up. Also, what is the final word on Claire's amnesia? Did she finally remember her brother? That annoyed me as I watched the credits.

All in all, a pretty good film with 3D as a bonus. I wouldn't mind cashing out 13 bucks to see it again.

I watched this movie without the mindset of it linking to the RE,but from the perspective of just an average movie-goer, but it seems that doesn't work quite well either. For example, they didn't explain who or what is that Executioner, and how does Wesker know Claire and Chris.

To be honest, I like the Plaga and the tunneling attributes to the zombies. Its the 2nd half of Wesker's confrontation scene that irks me.

One moment he was dodging bullets and beating up Chris and Claire with ease using his matrix-like moves (which I like). Next he was gunned down in almost an instance when he starts to fight a non-superpowered Alice, where he now magically lost his matrix-moves and switch to spawning those things from his mouth. I don't even think Wesker managed to scratch Alice in that segment. Why not have Alice, Chris and Claire attack Wesker at the same time? It will have illustrate and highlight Wesker's power, and the loss of Alice's power.

I saw it with my grandma after school since she's a huge zombie movie fan, and I have to say it was on par with the first movie.

D) Burrowing Zombies?! When has that ever been done before? Never? I thought so. That is lidicrious to the point of stupid. Not to mention what I said before about how ignorant it is that he portrays the majini as evolved zombies.

After all the slamming that was going on here, I was expecting the worst. Walked out satisfied. I had fun, enjoyed what I watched. I guess some people are entertained easier than others, which is fine but there's no need slam peoples tastes, they differ. The people that walked out of the theater with me enthusiastically gave it their approval, so what's the harm?

Claire running from the executioner as he slices at her was a great homage to Claire running from the mutated Steve -intentional or not- and K-Mart smacking whats-his-face with the shotgun was pretty awesome. Anything with Chris and Claire together made me really happy, I hope they do make a continuation --I would love to see them get more screen time together. Their little shoot out on Wesker at the end, left me totally satisfied.

As for the Jill cameo, I wish they would have name dropped her. Nobody recognized her and unless you played RE5, I can't see how you would have.

An issue I had is that, while K-mart's name was a cute idea in Extinction, during serious scenes where they are calling out her name...it sounded a little ridiculous...=[
