for real? when i 1st read how wesker "died" i smacked my face in dissapoinment, but know i see he might have survivied, which is good since it doesnt make sense that jill is not in control of anyone, cant wait to see the movie
I watched this movie without the mindset of it linking to the RE,but from the perspective of just an average movie-goer, but it seems that doesn't work quite well either. For example, they didn't explain who or what is that Executioner, and how does Wesker know Claire and Chris.
Without discussing my critique on the movie I can answer these questions.
Spoiler:
1. Executioner. Even in RE5 his whole set up was up in the air. Sure he's some axe wielding majini, but a guy that size with hooks and nails throughout his body.....c'mon. I'm pretty sure they only added him in because Anderson thought he was cool.
2. According to the movie Wesker was spying on Alice the whole time via satellite. That's how he knew of her friends.
The amount of you who actually spent your hard-earned money on seeing this piece of shit really boggles my mind.
Amen. Whats so funny is they are bitching about it but knew exactly what the outcome was going to be. It's like you paid admission to bitch. Hell you can do that for free!
Wow, amazing how people can have differing opinions, isn't it? I have nothing wrong with you having an opinion, but that's rather offensive of you to be insulting people like that. In fact, that's really offensive.
Where did I say anything that was personally offensive to anybody? I voiced my opinion by insulting the movies. The heart of the issue here is that you're notorious for getting butthurt whenever someone voices a negative opinion about them. We get it, you like the movies. I could care less if you like them or not, but the sheer amount of people who bitch about the movies yet still pump money into them is ridiculous. That's who I was talking about. Not you, the over-excited Milla Jovovich fanboy who everybody on the board knows loves the moves blindly.
So basically you're saying you saw the movie, which is why you deemed it a "piece of shit"? Or are you just throwing out baseless opinions?
Picture you're taking a shit. You squeeze out one big turd, and two smaller ones. You push harder and harder, and miraculously push out one more tiny turd nugget. How does that last piece of shit differentiate in any way from the first three? They're all smelly pieces of excrement, are they not?
Spoiler:
Translation: I hated the first three. Why would I feel any differently about the fourth?

So, in other words - a mere opinion about something you have yet to view.
Where did I say anything that was personally offensive to anybody? I voiced my opinion by insulting the movies. The way I saw it, the way you said that (how it boggles you that we're spending money on this "piece of shit") is implying that we're stupid for shelling out money to see it. You can have a biting opinion of the movies for all I care, but alright, I see what you meant. Was just kinda put off by that at first, sorry. XP
And 5 Minutes, he is right. I do love Milla Jovovich as an actress and while I wouldn't say I blindly love the movies, I do love them.
To me, you have to go into the movies not really expecting Resident Evil, but rather an interpretation that uses elements of Resident Evil. There will always be people who like and dislike something that expands on something already in existence. Some find it an improvement and some see it as degenerate filth. I've always seen myself in the middle ground when it comes to the movies; I do not love them whole-heartedly, but I do actually like them for the most part.
And I'll say again that these movies are an interpretation of Resident Evil. I don't think Anderson lacks understanding of the games, but to him this is what Resident Evil is: Zombies, virus, small group of survivors, Umbrella Corporation, et cetera. If the first game was replicated flawlessly into cinema though, some people would still have problems with it. "OMG! The mansion wallpaper wasn't that shade of white! It was clearly egg shell with specks of ivory."
My ultimate point to what I'm saying is make up your own mind about the movie. If you want to see it, see it. If you think it looks stupid, then don't see it; however, you cannot ridicule something that you have not seen. You have seen clips of it through trailers, but not the actual movie. It's sort of like saying you hate a food based on the color...You won't know unless you actually try it.
Anyway, I thought the movie was average. I didn't really go in with the highest of hopes, but I did like the various homages to Resident Evil 5 scattered about. I thought the Wesker fight could have been a bit better, and I'll agree that the ending was a bit weak.
I thought it was better than Extinction and Apocalypse. And I would recommend going to see it if you have the ability to SEPARATE the game series from the movies. If you hate all the others, then don't waste your time.
It's amazing to me how people can slander the film when they've not even watched it. I'm not so arrogant in my liking of the games that I simply cannot enjoy a film series VERY LOOSELY based on the games and that makes no attempt to copy the games plotline whatsoever, but merely takes names/some settings and enemies from it.
It was a good action film. It was entertaining. I'd suggest people actually go to see it first. I really don't understand all the hate the films get. The first two were entertaining, the third was boring as fuck, and this one was good too. They're action movies.
