It's people like you that ruin this community, everyone's hiding shit and we make empty promises about how we will release anything that comes into our hands but it never happens because you are all a bunch of hypocrites.. If anyone here gets 1.5 they'll be a greedy bastard no better than a filthy gold digger asking for money to release it, or any other valuable betas/alphas like above shown.

There is no difference in releasing many screens then releasing the full thing. None.

So what else you hiding PSX Collector? You're all scared of stupid shit.

Maybe I just leave these in here, since we all talk about the Sample ver. 10/04...

More funny than weird watermarks and thing many see in old Resident Evil playthrough stream from last year... thanks THIA for help in render!

While I agree with "as long as you're not sharing, just shut up about it", there's something wrong with this:

I'm trying to get something, but I don't have the money for it at the moment. Can you please send $4000 to my Paypal account, so I can purchase a beta/alpha and release it for free to everyone?

Protos bring out the worst in people. This place is not unique, the Internet is full of it.

Again, there's people throwing shit in a Robert Kendo's thread.
I really never will get what the hell is the problem with some people.
The guy have a site about betas, collect betas, and with good will show infos, screens and even some files from the betas. However, no, to some people that it's not enough, looks like there is a need to play/have every beta from every game, even if the difference between them it's an item, a dialogue line. Grow up, people.

It's interesting to see some differences on this, but I don't saw nothing to make someone freak about.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this, Robert Kendo. Even if sometimes look that's not, any info about beta/alpha it is welcome.

I meant as if something was received free, or paid for with very minimum amount, it should be shared. If it's something that cost $10 grand, alright sure do what you want release for money but don't be a bitch about it like Kendo and the PSX dude. It annoys me when I see things hidden to no end and these fuckers lie about releasing it.

And to the troll above me, why not just share the whole ISO? or demo? Or whatever the fuck it is? It's no different than screenshots! I'm greatful for the screenshots but if you have the alpha and are part of this community, and just don't want to distribute it yourself, but you still show screenshots, you're just a selfish fool.

And this is the worse community, Sonic's community gets betas released non-stop with no bickering, yet in the RE community we have little hidden trolls who are like bitch I got 1.5 or the alpha of 1 but I ain't sharing har har har.

Wow. Another one! What's next 1.5? *SHOT*

Say Kendo I hope you don't mind me asking but do you know if this build has the Japanese voice acting in it?

                    Cool story, bro.

I don't understand why you should be this butt hurt about him keeping something rare to himself. You are not even entitled to whatever people own that is valuable. I for one am excited that this prototype exists and if Robert Kendo would like to share all the files from the disc like he did with the previous prototype, that would be super cool.

That is not true. Especially, since the last beta they got was about more then a year or two ago, and if IIRC, it was of no significance.

Boys and girls, if you can't play nicely, don't play at all please. I'm infinitely not in the mood for the internet equivilant of, 'But I wannttt itttt!' and 'No, MINE!' I get to deal with the real life version often enough that seeing supposedly grown up, mature individuals doing it just pisses me off.

Yes, it would be lovely if we could get this released. Who knows? I have a strong suspicion Kendo isn't the only person here who has a copy. It may get released. But remember, these things sell for three and four figure sums. So if you want to see it released, cool. You offer the cash to buy it and release it.

Just don't expect to get another beta. Because you'll be black listed. Most of these things are copies of origionals, and they only retain there value so long as they aren't released. How many of you would like to wake up and find out some item of value, say some jewellry, was now essentially worthless because the material it was made out of was suddenly super easy to get hold of? But everyone wants a necklace or watch like that. So not good for your wallet.

Personally, I'm grateful for the info. Yeah, I'd prefer the damned game, but I've learned through the years when it's free, take it and be happy. Just because some else has the stew pot doesn't mean I'll turn my nose up at a bowl.

I do not want to see a single negative personal comment in this thread. To anyone, about anyone. Please, feel free to ignore me and enjoy your sudden unplanned vacation from THIA.

I came to the conclusion that if I want a rare beta I need to acquire it myself by my own means.

Also beforehand I did not realize there were more than one Alpha version, and the version I'd like to have is the co-op one, which Robert doesn't have unfortunately.

Actually, Darkmoon. That's not always the case.

Case in point, EarthBound "Zero", a Nintendo game that was unreleased in the west, was leaked to the internet in 1998 in the form of a ROM, has continued to be sold on eBay numerous times, sometimes for the four-digit numbers.

For more information about the history of the EarthBound NES cartridge, check out this two part documentary. It's a really interesting look at what goes inside the collector's scene and what's literally inside the actual prototype cartridge.

Point I'm making is that if this EarthBound NES prototype can still be sold for absurd amounts of money, even with a ROM of the game still in the internet for free, for so long. Why can't Resident Evil 1.5 or any prototype for that matter, be in the same circle?

I own several prototypes, both PCBs and CDs, guess which fetch the most

Earthbound (regardless of platform) has always been subjected to general over-prizing. This somewhat as a minor and sad side-effect of its impressive, awesome, and vocal fans.

As for the NES version, those are physical cartridges and, like repros, they have always been known to fetch a rather healthy sum (even after mass production of repros started). They fetch a nice price 'cause collectors who pick up stuff for cartridge based machines are usually considerably more hardcore and dedicated to the actual collecting aspect of something (they also are more prone to show off and/or appear at serious conventions and shows where they get to interact with other people with shared interests or put on a bit of an exhibit for the visitors).

Of course, NES Earthbound popped up at a time when $800 was an unthinkably large sum for a proto. Now that's (sadly) considered almost pocket change for even the most insignificant game (Heck, I've seen four digits pop up for review builds now for games that are pretty much identical to their released counterparts and for games that have pretty much no actual documentation worthy development history).

Anyway, cartridges have always been known to have a higher collector's value post-dumping than most other stuff. Their sophisticated and complex nature, as well as possibly the age, compared to the simple and easily forged CD-ROM format, makes them still pretty unique and attractive in their original form. Not to mention that up until recently, having the actual cartridge has been the only solution for actually playing back the prototypes of certain games on the original hardware. A cartridge based prototype is a rarity on its own - mostly thanks to how expensive they were to make, how most cartridges were re-used for other projects (unless they were "lost" or never returned from somewhere else), and how CD based media is easily replicated and quite literally thrown around like pocket change - and machines can play back any evt. $0.01 replicas without any problems at all.
