Time to throw my 2 cents in, or rather, my 4 thousand dollars.
I can understand NOT releasing a beta because of a "trust agreement." THAT, I sympathize with. If you make an agreement with someone not to leak the beta after you buy it from that person, then you have every reason not to leak or release it. THAT I get.
But if I purchased something for $4000, and I was not bound by any agreement, then I would release it. That's just because I'm a generous person, and I know how badly the community wants beta versions.
To NOT release something though, SOLEY on the purpose that you paid $4000 for it, really comes off as snobbish. You can disagree with that all you want, but that is really what it is. That is the truth right there.
The trust agreement, fine. But to NOT release it soley because you paid a lot of money for it, is bullshit. That is just thinking of yourself. Because as I have said, if I wasn't bound by a trust agreement, then the money doesn't mean shit to me. Sure, I'll release it, because that is the kind of person I am. I am giving. I can sympathize with people for not wanting to release it because they are bound by trust. But the money issue, that is a whole other story. People donate thousands and thousands of dollars to all sorts of charities every single year. This would be no different than being charitable to a community.
$4000 is $4000. Anyone could potentially cough up that money, and it isn't really that big of a deal for a beta with some minor differences. Remember, RE1 got released. 1.5 didn't. So for the most part, I could care less about these RE1 betas that we've been shown. They're not really that impressive.
This post isn't an attempt at starting an agrument, or being a troll, I'm just stating my feelings on the issue.
I agree with Robert_Kendo's decision not to release this because he is bound by trust, but not because of money. But honestly, I could care less about this beta. Nor RE2 Beta 2 for that matter. 1.5 and 3.5 are the betas you guys want. Not these.
