Resident Evil 4, for being the definitive title in the series and expanding the story in a good direction. It gave us new characters(that didn't suck) a new combat engine that still had enough of the old games mixed in, and the game itself was a homage to the entire series.

Though the lack of horror was kind of a disappointment, the story and game itself made up for that.

RE3 for ending the Raccoon City story arc with a bang as well as for the Nemesis. He really was one of the toughest enemies they've ever come up with. This was also the first game in the series to use a more free movement system, you didn't have to hit a button to use the stairs and you also had the new 180 turn. This was also the game that introduced oil drums and other explosives that you could shoot to kill large groups of enemies, this feature and the 180 turn have been used in almost all RE games since then.

The only downside this title really had was the game is pretty short and you didn't get to enjoy some of the settings very much because of that.

RE2 for having the most engrossing story and characters. Its funny though, I think that they used the same 'battle' engine for RE2 that they used for RE1. The only difference is that its been sped up a little bit so everything reacts quicker.

While I loved the Remake to death...its hard to go back to the old playing style. I miss bring able to aim at specific parts of the enemies body, I miss the auto knife, the 3d backgrounds as well as being able to deliver melee attacks.

The defense knives, grenades, and stun guns are nice and all...but they cant compare to being able to actually handle a room full of enemies with a few bullets, melee attacks, and your own creativity.

I'd say that the worst RE games in the series are RE0 and RE5.

RE0 was crap for three reasons: It was incredibly short, it was boring, and it was retcon.

I beat the game, without dying, on a first try in 2 hrs and 15 minutes. After paying $29.99 and waiting for like 6 weeks for the game I was livid. This was a gamecube game, the REmake was a good 90 minutes longer on the first run through and they managed to cram in plenty of new surprises in the game.

RE0 felt like a video game demo, the characters were surprisingly boring, the villain was painful to watch as well as listen too, and again, the story was retcon.

I'm positive that Bravo team, as well as Alpha team both entered the Arklay mansion the same day, but the RE0 events occur a day earlier. Not to mention that this would mean that Rebecca is hiding what happened at the Marcus institute from Chris and everyone, this presents a pretty big plot hole.

RE5 sucked because of A: major Retcon, B:it was a condensed remake of RE4, with a whole lot of generic story crap and Wesker suddenly changes from a scheming Machiavellian villain to a full on megalomaniac James Bond villain who takes vitamin B shots on a daily basis to keep his powers.

Capcom also took this time to retcon up as much of the RE series history so it'd match up with RE5's story in the loading screens.

and C: Shinji Mikami quit Capcom a year after RE4 was released. I'm almost positive the changes in story and everything that was made to RE5 was made intentionally to try to recreate what Mikami did with RE4...to the point that they just copied the game, damn near entirely...just change the continent, the ethnicity of the locals, and add in a few new throw away characters and then pull a 180 and end the games story arc and BAM!

Paul W.S Anderson has enough material to crate more shitty live action RE 'adaptations'.

...wait, I got off topic. the point is RE4, RE3, RE2 and the REmake are my fav's.

Agreed. I also wish the game was twice as long and less linear. If you were in a giant city filled with zombies, would you follow such a narrow path? It would have been cool to be able to somewhat freely explore Raccoon City.

"I will have my revenge on Umbrella, and the world will burn in an inferno of hate!"

The only thing RE0 did right in my mind was the locations. The training facility and the church/lab were bad ass.

It's safe to say that many of us agree with this.
          Mass production? Ridiculous!
