  • Though it was fun enough, CAPCOM really started to lose me with RE4. Too many things were too drastically different, but I decided to stick with them and see how things went. Initially, I was pretty excited about RE5 because I foolishly thought we might get some of the 'survival horror' stuff back, but it was even more of a generic action game than the last. And on top of that, it was about ten times as easy.

I've followed the series since 1996, so I doubt I'll ever abandon it, but I also doubt I'll ever be into them like I was the first handful. It just doesn't really feel like RE to me anymore and I feel that probably won't change with future installments. Most of the things I loved most about the series were taken out long ago...

I got to agree there, when you've got a shitty AI companion with down syndrome.

At times. Until I had online, I played through professional with Sheva....most frustrating thing I've done.

My interest has been waning ever so slightly, but I'm looking forward to Revelations, as of now. I didn't really like RE5; got bored a quarter of the way through and never finished it.

Though, I would like to know whatever happened to Barry...

Retired family man. After helping Jill escape Raccoon city he most likely joined his family in Canada or relocated with them somewhere else. After Wesker's blackmail, I think he's too attached to his family to leave them anymore. I was hoping to at least see him somewhere in RE5, perhaps replacing the Merchant and supplying Chris/Sheva with weapons and ammo.

Maybe not replacing the merchant/shop because you'd have to buy things from Barry and that would make him look like a jerk. He could have just left you a note with some ammo and first aid sprays like he did for Jill back in the day

It was nice seeing him one last time in Mercenaries Reunion, but I'm fairly certain that that was the last time we'll be seeing him (other than possibly being in the 3DS Mercenaries game). He's manliness and epic mystery solving simply cannot be contained within the RE universe, so we must set him free.

The difficulty isn't really from the AI, on Pro the only bit the AI causes issues for me with is the 2v2 Wesker/Jill fight.

Ammo and health drops are a lot more rationed than RE4, as well as inventory space. Not to mention damage.

                      • The only things that keeps my interest in the series anymore is breaking out my old ass PS1 and playing it with the PS1 controller. The nostalgia factor is probably what keeps me going On occasion, I try to get someone to make me play it, preferably someone who doesn't know how to play so I control the character and they tell me where to go and what to do. I don't offer any hints unless they are completely lost and as it turns out is a lot of fun since you're sharing something you like with someone who doesn't know anything about the series.

Ugh... inventory space. If RE5 had the grid-style inventory of RE4 (also no Sheva) I would probably love it.
                          Mass production? Ridiculous!

You want more space like in RE4? Don't most people complain about that and hold the older games up to some light because of it?

                            • I don't think I've ever seen anyone complain about the RE4 inventory. It's one of the few things I, personally, like from the damned thing.

Goes to show you can't please everyone.
