  • RUMOR: Sony trying to make RE6 exclusive to the PS3

I dunno about this rumor since it contradicts what Sony just said recently about them ("Game exclusives hold the industry back"). But anyway, the rumors about Sony trying to secure an exclusivity deal with Capcom already started.

Rumor: PS3 Timed Exclusive For Resident Evil 6?

everythinghq: From what I have been told Sony have already reportedly offered Capcom a fee which they are believed to be considering; the deal, if approved by the developer, will see Resident Evil 6 be a PlayStation 3 exclusive for at least half-a-year to a year; the contract is still reportedly under approval by Capcom so the length of the deal has yet to be confirmed.
It could be that Sony is trying to beat MS to the punch this time around.

    I would say:

    Let the Council Wars begin!!!

However, I think it might be good to bring the game back to its roots. Might make it less likely to just be a causal-audience plan please project like Re4 and 5. Seeing as the 360 is a huge multiplayer-online-coop machine. Then again...
    I have both systems

I bet this is just a rumor and...

it says "Timed Exclusive" not "Exclusive"
So it just means Sony wants it released on the PS3 prior to the 360

personally sony pulled this BS during the sega saturn era and the WWF pulled this BS as well and it always meant bad things (ie WCW and the death of the saturn). in this day and age third party's can make there own decisions on these matters without one of the systems making it for them. make certain things exclusive not the games themselves. RE has been on all the systems since the PSone so its not a big deal to see it on the 360 and if anyone pulls the 360 co op bullshit i will bring in my big trump card...Bioshock

Probably BS. Where's the source that Everything HQ pulled this info? Friend of a friend of a friend?

Anyway... I hate this timed exclusives deals, true or not.

I could see Capcom refusing this, as it means more sales units during launch week. And then re-releasing it as a la RE5:GE with dlc.

No way it will ever happen. If it does it will doom their sales.

I doubt it'll happen there are more people who own Xbox than PS3 I believe and lately the Xbox has become a hot commodity with the Kinect out not releasing to the 360 at the same time would deal a big blow to sales. Imagine if Call of Duty was a timed exclusive for PS3, Black Ops had about 800,000 players online on the PS3 on launch while Xbox had over 1,000,000. Capcom wouldn't want to do that

Can Sony offer Capcom enough money to make up for the loss of 360 sales AND annoying the 360 fans who'll likely just watch the game on youtube and pick up the game second hand when it finally hits the 360? If so, then it could happen. If not, it won't. Capcom is all about the bottom line, and a huge wad of money upfront before the game even goes on sale would make them very happy.

Capcom does seem like a cash hungry company lately.

Consider the recent Smurf Village fiasco, where a freakin "Wagon of Smurfberries" can go for a whopping $99.99. Parents started getting bills of thousands of dollars from their children who had unwittingly purchased these damn Smurfberries. The game is suppose to be free, but apparently you can't do shit until you start buying stuff.

Capcom in Hot Water Over Costly Smurfs’ Village Fiasco

Apple had to step in and they asked Capcom to stop those shenanigans at once.

Shareholders are in charge of Capcom. So I don't think they would've allowed such a deal between Capcom and Sony. Since there is a lot of $$$ to be made on the 360.

never knew about the smurf village stuff. Kind of scary if you think about it.

What else would he say? He denies things that have solid evidence floating about on the web.

The source seems bogus but Svens comments don't really change my view at all when it comes to denying stuff.

In recent years, Capcom have been bias towards Microsoft, that's why this deal will be unlikely to go through. As such I'm already calling shenanigans on this. Look at the Capcom-Unity blog, almost all the community moderators are just 360 fanboys with an axe to grind.

Capcom is a Japanese man prostituting his own daughter to the fat American hand of Microsoft.
