I'm sorry your loading screen pleasure was obstructed LOL jk

As someone who has REDC physical copy and live in America where it was released two years ago on the pstore this is very underwhelming news there only two days left and no word on something big

I honestly don't mind it when a game has built-in achievements/trophies (like Darkside Chronicles did), but when these "prizes" connect to a gamerscore-like system (not sure what they call it on PS3) I can see where damage is being done. For example, I know people who will play games they don't even like for hours upon hours just to increase their overall gamerscore... for what?! Credibility?! Bragging rights?! If anyone actually judges people for how high their gamerscore is, they need to go out and get a life, stat! Systems like this obviously promote self-destructive and anti-social behavior.

If you enjoy a game, play it. If you don't, don't. They're just a form of entertainment, similar to playing music or watching movies/TV shows/sports. The classic RE games appeal to me for this reason; I will play them a few times a year because I enjoy them and they are fun. This is how video games used to be. I can remember back to the NES and SNES/Genesis days; people played games because they were fun, not so they could mindlessly drone on to the next prize. I can remember some older games that had built-in statistics or unlockable cheats, and these are acceptable rewards to me because they reward the gamer for playing the individual game as opposed to fitting into a larger system that connects all games.

          Just how I see things.

Yea there are those people but for me it's different when I find a game I love getting the platinum trophy feels good if its a game you really like you want to know you achieved all there is to do in it it's a 50/50 thing there are those who go for trophies for the games they love and the trophy whores lol

Gamerscores are just there to attract a different crowd. I don't mind them, does not affect the gameplay imposed on me in any way.

Speaking of which, isn't there an option to turn off such notifications so the pop-ups won't bother you?

The pop-ups don't really bother me - it's the addictive principle of the whole system that bothers me.

                    • Yama and CVXfreak created an awesome thread on neogaf.
Biohazard (バイオハザード), also known as Resident Evil in the West, is a one of a kind survival horror title created by Shinji Mikami, formerly of Capcom, Inc. It is widely agreed upon that the series created the survival horror genre, spawning...

                      • I disagree with all of you guys who say that gamerscore is just for people with no life or to "feed" game geeks. Sigh...

The same principle could be actually used for the ranking system of the Resident Evil games, that you praise so much. You get a reward and a review of your performance according how you play, so if you get an S rank then you have no life and are attention whores? Nope. Gamerscore, trophies, ranks, high scores are ways to reward the player for their actions, to increase competitiveness between players and more important, add some replay value for games.

If you don't like achievements or whatever, just ignore them and go for the experience, but I could talk about a bunch of games that I've replayed to get 100% GS and this let me enjoy them a second time or even get myself more involved with the story.

Alan Wake comes to mind. By "forcing" you to collect manuscript pages, you learn SOOOO much more of the game's context than just by playing the game from start to finish.

I do have a large gamerscore and I'm rather proud of it. I don't think I'm a superior being or anything because of that, I just try to enjoy my games to the fullest that I can. I don't lose sleep if I don't get a 100% completion on a game and USUALLY won't play games just for easy GS (Avatar i'm looking at you LOL).

Anyway, on topic, it's kind of sad that in this 15th anniversary there's nothing big to be announced nor a homage to previous titles... I'll celebrate this day by replaying the first PSX game. RE, thanks for the 15 years of zombie killing. I still love you as the day that I first killed a zombie on Raccoon's streets (I played RE2 first).

                        • Its a stupid comtetion between achievement geeks.Your score is not something that shows your skill or so.

My gamertag is ANDYARKLAY and i'm top 10 on most game modes of resi 5. Leaderboard
gives players a challenge.Achievments is wasting of time. Its better to use profile modding tool to unlock achievements than spend your livetime on this.

                          • Trophies are not so different from any leaderboard they're both time consuming and take "no life" to get to the top and you know not everyone hacks their trophies some people work hard for them and also look at some re5 leaderboards the chapters are beaten in 4 seconds by the top rank I mean wtf the games can easily be hacked as well there might as well be no competition at all

                            • I personally couldn't give a crap about my Achievement List or Trophies or whatever. I've gotten something like 6000 on the 360, but only because I've been playing on it so long now. None of those games have been plastinumed, although I came close with Oblivion and it's exapansions. I just felt no need to play a few more hours and get those last few.

That said, if people get satisfaction out of it and getting points is a rewarding experience for them? Cool. So long as no one assumes someone is the world's most awesome gamer because his or her score is stupid high, or crap because it's low, who really cares?

glitched, not hacked.I personally know this glitch.

take "no life" to get to the top
I spent 6 hours to get rank 1 on amateur coop - just perfect strategy.I play now like 5-8 every week.
For highscores - the most interesting part for me is to make a ultimate strategy.
Top achievment players got no life - they all spend all free time.

I gave a link to prototypes but achievement discussion is more interesting for you (facepalm).
