If you spend time making an ultimate strategy doesn't that show the time the game had taken on your life? You don't have to physically play the game for it to take over life LOL and I'm not a crazy trophy whore you can see my psn profile in game ranks and trophies are no different majority of trophies you'll get just by playing a game the rest is just added play it is no different then you spending time to make the ultimate strategy its all the same

To put it simply you going for top rank is equivalent to going for a platinum

Very few people has ability to get higscores,very few people has ability to have +3.0 kill ratio in multiplayer in online shooters and every newb can start playing for achievments and get them all.Noob-medals.
Its just a real rat run with achievments - everyone get nothing, many people play games which they don't like to play,most achievments takes tons of time(and you are doing the same actions in this time).
With highscores...Noone will start making highscores if he has no motivation to play the game(no motivation=no concentration=no good result).

Someone who runs the game with knife enjoys it much more than someone who run it to shoot all emblems.
I'm the fan of resident evil games so i even hacked inventory/fly out of map to know more about game.
Jill4EverSTARS, i'm not talking about you and if you enjoy earning achievements or not.

But its really for geeks(the same like WoW) to play the game without enjoying the game.I think that the games done to enjoy playing them, not to play to finish artificial requirements from devs.
They are trying to get you(not exactly you, Jill4EverSTARS - i'm speaking in general) back to the game even if you don't like it/have no(or not enough) motivation to play.

And you're not seeing my point going for the trophies as an incentive to play the game is the same as the replayability with a knife run you're only explaining your personal disdain for trophies but not why they're worthless

4.5 years ago i bought the xbox 360 and first 6 months i was playing with people for achievements.I know all "reasons" - i needed to tell them to my friends if they say that its stupid to play for achievements xDDDDDDDDDDDD

I spent 6 hours to get rank 1 on amateur coop - just perfect strategy.I play now like 5-8 every week.
For highscores - the most interesting part for me is to make a ultimate strategy.
Top achievment players got no life - they all spend all free time.

I think yes - its very bare and stupid manipulation.
If you play to be under 5 hours and get infinite rocket launcher - well its a manipulation too(almost everything that makes you playing the game can be called as manipulation) but you do it to get new expirience later playing with infinite rockets.Completing all levels to full the table with Rank S - its for real geeks.
Of course everyone do what he/she want to do.
