  • Played the PS3 version a bit, seems to be a lot worse than the 360 version. In 15 hours or so on 360 I've not had any bugs, on PS3 I've had teammates stop moving a couple times in campaign and the matchmaking for Versus is horrid, often putting you in completely different game modes to what you chose, plus freezing whenever it gets laggy (though I suspect it was laggy from a certain player using a lag switch, would always lag when this one guy was gonna die in Heroes mode, then after a freeze/system restart I found him in a game again and same shit going on again whenever he gonna die).

    • I'm sorry I'm not sorry but I'm having a lot of fun with this game. The game modes are really pretty fun and varied(Nemesis Mode is a plus, Survivors is refreshing and nothing beats some good old CTF-gameplay like Biohazard) and my friends are enjoying it too. The only thing that really annoys me(other than the glitchiness and matchmaking) is the Super Soldier ability that Lupo and Dee-Ay have. That's just so overpowered it's dumb.

It is quite ridiculous. The Assault class pretty much destroys every other one. Luckily my bread and butter is Recon, so I don't have to be one of the many people scrambling for Lupo/Dee-Ay.

Still, it does suck getting shot with flaming bullets and going up against a player who is practically invincible at some points. I'm just glad I got the trophy for 98 versus matches last night because I'm going to take a break from the multiplayer until there's a patch. Needless to say, I might be waiting while.

        • I think I am going to play this online next. I just completed the game...seems there are a lot of cutscenes they have shown are not in the game (just like RE Revelations)

          • gotta say that i'm pretty disappointed with the graphics, but i should have guessed this since all the main characters faces are covered with masks. I have been playing with the AI and its kind of a bummer also. otherwise i'm having fun... I've always been a big fan of revisionist history.

              • Love how the AI doesn't heal you at all, and most the time having 2 online with 2 AI's in Single Campaign had them pretty much doing nothing towards the end.

                • Hi, my name is Gabe Newell and welcome to Operation Raccoon City. When we released RE5 back in 2009, it was an experiment to see how gamers would respond to a more action orientated experience. RE5 went on to win a bunch of awards, sell many copies, and, most importantly, resonate with gamers in a way that no other Capcom title has. Please let me know what you think after you have had a chance to play Operation Raccoon City. I can be reached at GAY-BEN@valvesoftware.com. After two months in development, Operation Raccoon City has finally been released. I hope it will have been worth the weight. Thanks, and have fun!

                            • The big problem with ORC, I think, has always been the cut rate production values. I remember when it was being initially posted about and we got some 'teaser art' that had RE2/RE3 artwork copy and pasted in. Enrico, a good friend of mine who is a member here and also in the video games industry was horrified that they'd even think of taking such a short cut. That's the sort of thing you mock up for internal use and internal use only.

We know Slant Six has been lazy in so many places. Smiley and some others may disagree that simply making streets with Raccoon City slapped on them rather than trying to incorporate sections from the older games was lazy, but it can't be denied that getting info from a Wikia, using the wrong period of weapons and vehicles and the massive number of glitches does not speak well for the time and effort that went into this. Some of the blame has to go to Capcom - they should have looked up from the money pile long enough to go, 'Uh, guys, fix that shit' but didn't. But Slant Six thought it was all perfectly fine too. And have been from day one.

                              • The bigger confusion to me is the budget that was probably spent for Blur to make all those amazing CG movies that mostly don't even get used in the game. When that triple threat trailer came out in full I was like "I would gladly watch a feature length film based in Raccoon City in this style."

Having not even picked up the game yet, does that video even play as an attract screen if you leave the game once you boot it up? If it does, then thats something I guess...

But if this was a reasonably low budget title with such a small turn around time, how the hell did those even get made? Blur staff are very fast in turnaround I assume, but I can't think the cost of making those was cheap.
