I cringed at that. Otherwise, it seemed alright. Some polishing of the animations could be doen. but otherwise it looks like it might be a decent game overall.

Hopefully a mulitplayer beta is done, as Confrontation had issues if I remember. At least it would be he smart move to do. Or a bad one if the gameplay does suck.

    • So wait....characters are being stereotypes and over the top cheese (exactly what they were 15 years ago) and people are complaining? I lol'd so hard.

      • It's not 15 years ago, and this game isn't trying to be a cheesy horror movie. And honestly? I'd have slapped Capcom for that accent if they did it 15 years ago, and I'll slap Slant Six for it now. It makes Bertha impossible to take even slightly seriously. She sounds like a reject from a Bond villain's henchman pool.

        • Slant Six has also gone to great lengths to stress that the characters they created for ORC are not stereotypes, because Resident Evil "doesn't have stereotypical characters."

          True story.

          • All of the shit that people are complaining about just doesn't bother me. I've been jaded by RE's recent milking and whoring and failures, but for some reason, I have nothing but hope for this game. Everything else that has come out recently has either disappointed me or I've had zero interest in it, but this looks like something I could really sink my teeth into.

Because it's not canon. It's not further fucking up the storyline of the series I've loved since I was a little kid. It's a mindless co-op shooter set in Raccoon City where you're surrounded by zombies and BOW's and where you're revisiting famous set-pieces from the series(or so they promise).

People have bitched for years about Outbreak and wanting zombies back. Now finally, we're back in Raccoon City(Outbreak) and we're getting zombies and Mr. X and Hunters, and yet people are STILL fucking bitching. No one will ever be happy. For once, I give Capcom credit on this. It's outsourcing and it's milking and it's whoring to the very definition, but it's something different and yet comfortably the same all at the same time.

            • Nothing about this game is supposed to be taken seriously. It's like trying to say Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, or Crysis are 'realistic' wartime shooters. I think the German accent is hilariously bad, but that's what the RE games have been all these years. It's either bad voice acting with terrible lines, decent voice acting with worse lines, or great voice acting (lol) with a very poorly written script. Carlos with his 'authentic' Spanish (???) accent, Nicholai and his typical Russian, Wesker going from American to whatever sort of accent he gained over the years... I think people intitially thought this would be some sort of saving grace for the series...it's not going to be, nor was it ever truly inteteded to be anything more than a money maker cashing in on the multiplayer action games.

                  Except it apparently is.

The killing of major characters won't be, obviously, but the rest of it is being treated in much the same way as the Sergei character in Umbrella Chronicles.

It was taken from the OXM cover story.

"You take a character and kind of flip it on itself and give it a quirk," explains [Adam] Bullied [creative director]. "If you were to take Marcus Fenix and put him in this game, he wouldn't fit. You're gonna play as a creepy surveillance guy and see how he reacts in a zombie outbreak. They all need to have these distinct personalities that aren't stereotypes, because RE doesn't have stereotypical characters."

Great for you. But I never bitched about wanting a new Outbreak...I would have liked one, sure, but that's not what this is. Outbreak had horror elements. Nor did I bitch about wanting B.O.W's back, although again it was certainly my preference. I wanted horror back. And of course, I'm very curious to see where Capcom take the story now that Wesker is dead. So, with no horror and no story, this is just another online shooter for me. I can get that, and zombies, from L4D...and I trust Valve to make a better game than Capcom pretty much everytime. Unless Archelon is right, in which case this game moves straight to 'Do not fucking want!' territory.

Yeah, I think I've been pretty clear since we saw this that I'm fairly unimpressed. Honestly, I wouldn't have cared about Bertha's accent if it wasn't so thick, so predominant, and so exactly how I imagined the character from the description, which was basically a dominatrix and a sadist. I'm not exaclty expecting the characters to be well written, but there's a difference between good and, 'Fuck it, I'm having a long weekend, she can be thinner than a piece of paper after a rain storm.'

Black man + Heavy = epic

@Darkmoon - That's just it. I've never found any of the characters to be well written. Chris and Jill = typical MUST SAVE WORLD! Heroes. Leon falls into that bunch. Claire = baby sis gets involved, cast into babysitter role. Wesker = evil for greed at first, then WORLD DOMINATION! Rebecca, Sheva, Birkin, Alexia= Child geniuses that (Alexia and Birkin excluded) were thrown in to be side characters and nothing more. Even Sheva's role was completely dumbed down given the original reason to be a guide/translator. She does absolutley none of that, and RE5 was so damn linear that if Chris got lost it would show how truly moronic he is. He also was equipped with GPS....which made her role of a guide more obsolete.

                            • "We're not changing the Resident Evil canon, we're not changing the Resident Evil storyline," Boyd insisted.

This is what I was concerned about...retconning things that actually happened. If it was out of sight and mind, and it could have happened, it doesn't bother me that much. Plus if it really bothers you, you can just throw it out the window and stick with what you knew in RE2. That's what I plan on doing, anyway.

"So this is an addition to the storyline, and there are some salacious details, some things that you didn't know happened that you'll find interesting, but we're not changing the storyline, we're working in with it.

"Capcom has retold the story of the outbreak a number of different times, and we're retelling it from a different point of view."

I can deal with this whole idea of "since you didn't see it, it could've happened." Trying to think outside the box here.

Might fit in better with his specialty in explosives and his foul mouthed attitude. Too much booze.
