Even if they made a crappy game, it isn't just to mock them when they've lost employment. Capcom chose to rush them and not oversee that it had the quality that resident evil has had in the past. Capcoms greed is to blame for operation raccoon city.

It's a rarity to even have a patch at this day an age that actually improve the quality as it's supposed to. I'm still waiting on two Silent Hill patches. I'm sad to hear of the lay offs, but again this is temporary and in a business such as this they have to make the necessary decisions to maintain their company. I wish them all the best.

I have to admit, I place the blame more on Slant Six than Capcom...and people know what a asshole I usually am to Capcom. The only thing I can imagine being Capcom's fault is rushing them to finish (quite possible) and possibly not giving them some resources they were promised or something.
Not overseeing the game closely was stupid on Capcom's part, but not an excuse for Slant Six to fuck up - simply an opportunity. And thus the first known game to be based on Wikipedia was born.

The wikipedia stuff was on the marketing campaign.
I am curious, does anyone on this site own the Japanese limited edition? It came with a 'Secret Report' DVD and curious what is on it.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

As I understand it, the wikipedia nonsense made it to the game too. Stuff about Nemesis, a helicopter pilot, stuff like that if I remember...and I admit, I'm slightly shitfaced, so I may not be.
I do remember the cars and guns from another time, though. Did they make it into the final game? I never thought to ask.

1) "Dead Factory"
2) Crimson Heads are not called V-ACTs
3) "Mr. Death"
4) Calling a virus a "compound"
Just off the top of my head.
The Inserted Evil trash is clearly official background information but it is sketchy at the best of times, but it's not like the entire game isn't written like very bad fan-fiction. The game itself isn't consistent with anything (not even itself) so trying to devalue the Inserted Evil stuff written by the same morons based on it being inconsistent is pretty weak.
Almost none of the weapons or cars in the game existed in 1998. This is despite Slant Six creaming over the fact that they made the gas price on the STAGLA sign represent 1998, because that is totally significant.Last edited by News Bot; 06-14-2012, 10:26 AM.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Sorry, I wasn't saying that the guns and cars were from a wiki. I was saying it was incredibly lazy for them to not bother checking when those guns and cars were made. Just because Capcom wasn't paying too much attention shouldn't have meant they half-ass on stuff, but they did. This being one of the more obvious examples.

The game obviously lacked anyone with a creative mind, ORC could had gone in so many directions some of those good and some of them bad. Capcom should have made this game in-house, say what you want about the Outbreak games but no one can deny they scream of Resident Evil in music, atmosphere and characters. All I wanted was ORC to keep that Resi Evil vibe.
