Case in point: Nicholai's codename is not "Silver Fox". It is actually "Silver Wolf".
Oh come on, it's not like that's common knowlegde. I think the only places that talk about that are Project Umbrella and THIA.

My point was that if they are going to use the English versions of the games, then they are most likely going to be carrying over the plot errors that resulted from those garbage translations. The Silver Fox thing is just a very minor example. (and just because it is little known does not mean it should be brushed aside. An error is an error)

Wow, I'm so glad you said something because when I read 'Silver Fox' I got really confused, but then you mentioned it was a mistranslation of 'Silver Wolf' and it all made sense. As someone who has been personally assaulted by wolves in the past, I know how treacherous a wolf is. Referring to him as a fox just destroys his entire character! It's madness, sheer madness!

You quoted me then completely missed the point, haha.

The Silver Fox error is just a minor example and a worrying indication.

I don't know if this is sarcasm or actually serious, but awesome post either way.

I take this as even more evidence that localisation is a cause for differences more than translation errors.

They are errors. Nothing more. There is no "cause for differences", unless you think they intentionally add plot holes to a script that was already pretty much flawless? The developers have no say in the localisation (being Japanese and not having a fucking clue) and translation is handled either by an individual (like Shinsaku Ohara) or a translation company. It just so happens that CAPCOM hire bad translators.

              • The zombies move as if they're on the moon. The mercs move like they are from a Charlie Chaplin film. Anyone else think the animations look weird?

Perhaps it was made for the Inserted Evil site and is just a basic rush-job?

                    Indeed good sir.

Regardless, after teasing Nicholai briefly in Outbreak File#2, I'm glad to see him back. Returning to Raccoon City has so many possibilities as far as bringing back classic characters and delving deeper into their stories. A step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned. What was at first glance a mindless socom based team shooter is becoming very intriguing. I also made this last year, never thinking I'd have a reason to post it lol.

                    • I really hope they cover the actions of the other U.S.S. members in the city, namely Rodriguez and his squad (who were all turned into zombies). Then there is Miguel, Derek, Conrad, etc. They have potential to be interesting, particularly if they had back-stories in Outbreak originally anyway.

                      • Wow, I have to say that I like the look they've given Nicholai (in the pic with the badge). He truly looks like an evil, sinister bastard. In RE3 the character models were so blocky that it was hard to really imagine the seriousness of the character.
                        Mass production? Ridiculous!

yea, I'm gonna have to agree with you on that.
