that said, why do you people care about realism in a RE game anyway? RE was never about realism. you guys do remember this is a video game right? and video games are meant to be enjoyed, right? i swear some of you complain about the silliest shit.
yes, i mad
Second of all, everyone has the right complain about this stuff. If you don't enjoy reading other people's points of views you may wish to not go beyond the news post. Not everyone, and I include myself in this list, enjoy seeing a game that was all about the horror going down the run and gun action route, especially given that Slant Six have terrible, terrible editors (getting information for the Wikia, using cars and weapons that didn't exist at the time, etc) and have every right to mention it.
Equally, you can post about why you think this game will be awesome. We have a number of member who do. There's a somewhat amusing little battle going between those who like this and those who prefer Revelations.
Third, not liking the newer games doesn't mean you don't like the games, you just don't enjoy the newer ones as much or at all. The forums are for fans of Resident Evil, not just the newest release. Equally, a few members do prefer the newer games and not the older ones, or like them all.

You signed up to complain about people complaining? That's progress.....
But I've never considered Resident Evil to be "real". However, I'd argue that there's a limitation to what characters should and should not do. I'm fine with people infected with a virus or chemical to become super human or mutate in some way. As far as the narrative is concerned I'd prefer them to be villains rather than protagonists which is something the games do right where the movies have failed.
When it comes to the main series I'm not a fan of established characters starting out as basic fighters and then going all out with the over the top action as each sequel comes out. The slow-mo scenes I could put up with to a degree. I can even tolerate the game play allowing a woman in high heels to drop from the roof of a building and land perfectly on her feet. But there's a point where the game loses its scare factor simply because your character is strong enough to overcome the enemies you face.
And while the objective of the games is to survive against them, but it shouldn't be accomplished without a lack of trying. In REmake one well places zombie could ruin your day. Take that with conserving ammo, a narrow hallway, well positioned camera angles, and a character incapable of merely punching the zombie out and breaking his neck. Limitations can be a horror game's best friend.
ORC has always been said that it's action heavy so no shock that the game comes with characters performing all these off the wall stunts. It's hardly going to be scary. I can understand and respect people that are not happy with this direction. What I do not agree with is people singling this game out as some betrayal merely because the game has over-the-top action in it. Unless they don't like the action displayed, ORC is no more over-the-top then a game like Resident Evil 4 where Leon managed to successfully dodge lasers by leaping through them and running up walls. Or Resident Evil 5 where Chris and Sheva confront Wesker in his aircraft that crashes inside a volcano of all locations. Pretty action packed stuff.
And if you like the action then that's good. Capcom tried to bring in as many people as they could to their franchise and now they struggle to make games catering to each type of gamer. Revelations claims to be returning to form, and some steps have been taken back from what I've read about the game. I believe it's not a true classic approach from the RE4 elements they integrated, but fans of the older games may like it just the same if the action is toned down.

So that these good people here don't have to enter the forums at all. Looking for news. But instead finding everyone going at each others necks, with the weeping and gnashing of teeth and all that internet drama... lets face it, outside of a Final FARTasy forum, we RE fans are quite known for taking it to a whole 'nother level of wackiness. Especially when discussing Jill Valentine nose, chin, boobs or whatever...amiright fellow Jilluminados? Sure I am.
THIA is one of the most notable circles of hell... its not for everyone.
BUT... most of the time... the forums are reaaaally quite. Peaceful even. You got users drinking latte or doing their nails. Not trying to piss off any of the gazillion lurkers THIA has most of the time.
BTW, welcome to the forums!Stuff to remember: Avoid forums if you're having a bad day.

Jill is a lot more interesting to talk about then, say, Alice......
Imagine a topic about her.
So.... yeah. She ummm... kicks dogs pretty good. Her clones are rather impressive. With an army like that I'm almost surprised that they were killed off so quickly. You'd think the mind powers would have blown Wesker's head clean off.
See. I'm really pulling here to make this a conversation. I don't think anyone really gives a damn about this character.Last edited by Smiley; 01-10-2012, 02:54 PM.

Why don't you ask her yourself what she looks like. I wonder if calling mods gargoyles is a good idea or not? ;>_>
EDIT: Back peddling and making edits like this will get you nowhere in this discussion. If you have to leave then just reply at a later time.
EDIT2: Refer back to first EDIT.Last edited by Smiley; 01-10-2012, 04:21 PM.
