I still stand by the fact that with every trailer I see, my excitement for this game gets lower and lower. I'll still be buying the game of course, but my god, was that trailer trying way to hard. Especially with the awful metal in the background.

Frankly, I can't think of a reason ORC isn't boned. Very few people even seem interested, let alone buying on release.

if you are a real resident evil fan you will buy it !
end of story.

It has high pre-orders in the US and based on general trends will do half a million week one in US alone, though as release draws near this estimation will rise.

Capcom won't listen to REAL Resident Evil fans whining and bitching. Wanna know what they will listen to? My wallet slamming shut because they keep trying to dish up action games. And because I'm a REAL Resident Evil fan, I'll keep not buying the fucking games until Capcom puts some Horror back in. I'm a REAL Resident Evil fan, and I'll buy a REAL Resident Evil game - not this trivial piece of poorly though out, poorly implemented piece of shit.
And don't bother trying to tell me I'm not a fan because I don't like fucking ORC, OR that I have no right to be here because of it. I'm a Resident Evil fan and I'll talk about what I please here, but I'm bright enough to not buy something just because it's Resident Evil. I won't buy Resident Evil: Barry's Pretty Princess Make Up Party Edition any more than I would if it was Mary Kate and Ashley's Pretty Princess Make Up Party Edition and I hope to God neither would you.
So stop trying to derail the fucking thread by telling me I'm a bad fan because, shock of shocks, I pointed out why this thing has a good chance of flopping despite the fact it managed to get RE tagged on to it when you decided it will sell well.
And as tempted as I am to let some of the other members give there opinion on you and your decision on what makes a true fan (HINT: Agreeing with rehunk) that's the end of this. As per usual, I will delete further off topic conversation. As per usual, I welcome you taking the debate to either private massager, the wall system or even a topic of it's own. As usual, you will likely post again anyway, get 10 infraction points and whine that I'm picking on you because I'm stopping you from further derailing a topic.

Something that Resident Evil made it's name with. It's what made Resident Evil famous, allowed it to grow, set it apart in the market and even today, even when they won't make horror games, Capcom slaps a horror theme on the top because they know, know full fucking well, why people buy the series.

As for my complaints about ORC happening in the older games...
1) I don't remember them having weapons and cars from the future.
2) Even when they had significant changes to the norm (Survivor, Gaiden) they still retained many elements of the other games. They didn't change into all out action assault fests.
3) They at least had a crack at being scary, even if the most terrifying thing in Gaiden is the sound track.
That's what I'm ticked off about. That and it doesn't add to the story, only takes away from it (of course, my opinion) for the sake of being able to yell 'Pew pew!' more often.

I'm still confused as to why people think OpRac was supposed to be something other than an action shooter, and continue to bitch about it. If I wanted to play horror, I'm not going to be playing through a modern RE title. Hell...I'm probably not going to play any RE title if I want horror. OpRac is a spinoff to simply make more money and draw more potential buyers, and most people seem to think it's not going to sell well anyway. You all should be thankful that this game looks to be such shit, with so many "fans" distancing themselves from it. If it flops, you'd think you would be one step closer to making Capcom realize this is not what we as a fanbase want from the series.sigpic

Originally posted by Bertha View PostI can agree with everything else, but this. I'm sorry, but I also don't remember having the technology to build cities like Terragrigia in 2004 (earlier since if I remember correctly it took 11 years to construct). There are so many sci-fi/highly advanced tech in the series that simply don't make sense to bitch about a game that obvisouly isn't trying to reflect the old games. Look at all the underground facilities and their tech. Did we really have any of that in 98? Maybe we did, maybe we didn't. It's a stupid argument to bitch about "Oh that's a Hummer 2! THIS GAME IS HORRIBLE BECAUSE THAT ISN'T ACCURATE!" It's like saying the games have lost their sense of realism. Newsflash: the games were never realistic to begin with, and if you think they once were, you're completely dillusional. People are tearing down Slant Six, but Capcom doesn't really seem to give a flying fuck about what gets created either. They've had ample opportunity to fact check the game and say "Hey yeah no....sorry but that's not actually anything we created, so take it out."

Honestly, I try not to bitch about ORC too much. It's a shoddy cash in, and frankly I try not to think too much about it. I'm more ticked off with certain members informing me as to what I can and can't post, and who and what makes a true fan. Which is stupid on my part, all things considered. I really should be calmer. But eh. I'll live.
...others may not.

It will sell because it meets the criteria Capcom and Slant Six are looking for. Co-op to ensure more sales from players and releasing it on consoles and PC. The preorder bonuses are also a nice touch ranging from Raccoon City signs to T-shirts to DLC codes.
The tournaments have gained attention, and the advertising is there.
Frankly Revelations might be a good game, but being on the 3DS is the only drawback for most fans because the hand held itself needed special treatment to make it appealing. They had to make a quick price drop and analog attachment to bring in more sales. That's the only way I got my hands on one and it goes without saying they need to make new games and not rely on re-releases or spin offs.
As you said RE6 is eight months away presumably. I doubt it'll make the November deadline, and even then ORC will likely have a price drop to some degree so people can satisfy their zombie cravings with that game in the meantime. Knowing that RE6 is trying to draw a Call of Duty crowd, you can expect that target audience to at least consider ORC as a gateway to get into the series since it has the elements they're looking for in terms of action and multiplayer.
