Masachika Kawata is on board and no Jun Takeuchi. That sounds very good.

After seeing how he inject the story of Ada into RE4, I have high hope for the game, and I am looking forward to see them tying the elements of RE2, 3 and Outbreak, clearing up the plotholes and taking even a closer look of RC.

What plotholes are there to clear up in a game set during the events of RE2/3? Besides, they've already pretty much stated this game will not be canon, though that should have been pretty obvious from the outset.

I'll be honest, too. I'm still not entirely certain how I feel about this. I mean, it sounds eerily similar to an idea I had for a possible Resident Evil 6 or spinoff (I even posted it on these forums a few years back), so you'd think I'd be super pumped for it, but maybe I just need to see some actual gameplay footage first before forming an opinion.

Masachika Kawata's involvement doesn't exactly inspire confidence, but I guess at least, if nothing else, Jun Takeuchi is nowhere near it.

I think the scan of Mr. X has me most excited. He looks so menacing, and it really makes me look forward to trying to survive in Raccoon City again.

See, I like Takeuchi. He just made three mistakes, first of all he was given the unfortunate task of bringing closure to a series in a manner that would satisfy as many fans as possible. Second of all, he had a lot to deal with after RE4 - which while being a major critical and commercial success, left a lot of shit to deal with in terms of storyline, and let's not forget the fact that it's a huge shadow to step out of.

Finally, I reckon he played it safe and seemed too afraid to do anything too radical or different from the previous game. As a result, what we got was more of the same. That said, I still like the guy. I enjoyed Lost Planet 2.

As for Kawata, isn't the the bloke who produced the abomination that was Umbrella Chronicles? Also, while we're talking about this, whatever happened to Hiroyuki Kobayashi?
            See you in hell.

No, actually he was the bloke who tried to wipe away UC with its sequel Darkside Chronicles. Which, while the camera did throw me off a bit at times, was a vastly improved experience.

THIS! I would absolutely flip if they went through and detailed the events that led to the other 5 tyrants demise at the plant. I can't remember off the top of my head, but those were US Special Forces that died there as well, correct? Playing that battle would just be epic.

5 Tyrants, US Spec Ops, and USS.

Lost Planet 2 have not been received well by the critics. 1up, IGN, Gamespot, Eurogamers have gave a 5-6ish review scores for that game. Not specular sales-wise either. Its not just LP2. All the titles that Jun Takeuchi has slight involvement with (Bionic Commando, Dead Rising Wii, Final Fight: Double Impact etc) seems to bring down Capcom's reputation instead. Not really his doing, but it seems he is a jinx or something.

Kobayashi have moved on to creating the Sengoku Basara franchise right after RE4. It is very popular in Japan, especially with the ladies. They even created an anime and manga series, trading cards etc out from that game series.

                      That was Haruo Murata.

Kawata's only credit is as a producer/director. He is hardly involved with the storyline.

Also, Operation Raccoon City isn't canon, so don't expect it to clear up any plotholes. It has already introduced several, and I doubt the Raccoon City depicted in the game is going to be the same Raccoon City we know outside of a few landmarks.

Not really. If anything, the series was at the same place it was at the end of CODE: Veronica. The only real difference was that Umbrella was gone.

He was one of the producers, yes.

Kawata was a producer on Umbrella Chronicles, Darkside Chronicles, and RE5. So he's partially responsible for all three.

I was excited about this until i read "Leon" Sure if we got to finally kill the guy it would be great but that just isn't going to happen is it, making the entire game a waste of time. Don't like the idea of using zombies as cover either, cover from what, other zombies? They don't care, they're zombies! I like the question about survival horror not selling well anymore, that's because there hasn't been a proper survival horror game in years, it's all action-horror crap and who's to blame for that i wonder?

Cover from humans fire, like Leon, US Special Ops?

If I play this game in the near future like I'm planning to and meet Leon, I'll put a bullet in his brain as fast as I can, if is possible.

I don't hate the character neither something like this, but he being everywhere annoys me.

Also, to kill him would be something pretty awesome.
