  • Two new pages on ORC in GameInformer, some tidbits...not sure if they're new or not.

    - You can shoot human enemies and make them bleed out, causing the horde to close in on them and really fuck their day up. The hands-on makes it sound like this is a better option than just shooting somebody and killing them, and in certain game modes, you get twice as many points for doing this.
    - They also say that "the game's weapons feel a bit floaty and underpowered, which is worrying. There's still plenty of time for tweaking and balancing, and we hope that those issues are addressed."
    - More info on the game's "score-battle mode":
    Kill a zombie - 1 point
    Kill a Hunter - 5 points
Kill an enemy player - 10 points
    Kill a player with a headshot - 15 points
Cause a player to bleed and get killed by zombies - 20 points

    • I'm still kinda worried about the whole getting someone to bleed and be attacked by zombies. It seems like they'll be no real variety...grab a zombie to use as a shield, then knee cap the other guy to make the rest of them attack him. Rinse and repeat.

Also, I really hope the points thing is Versus only.

      • Well, there's three gametypes. Solo with 3 bots, co-op with 3 friends and 4 on 4 competitive. I don't see how the scoring would factor in to anything but competitive. I hope the co-op has long legs because that's where the strength lies, I hope. I also hope there'll be variety and lots of ways to play the co-op...one stage/mission at a time, etc.

        • It makes the most sense to do that. And if the rumours are true about upgrades and skill trees and such, then the points could be spent on those.

Ideally, this will have a long, solid campaign that can be done in multiple ways with different story paths and such, to get the most out of playing with different people, to take advantage of it's non-cannon storyline, but that might be asking too much of a run and gun game. It might be too much to ask for a Left 4 Dead level of campaign, but we'll see.

          • Well of course it will need to be replayable.. I just wonder how much better the game would be if they just made it for PC. If more companies focused on making money in the long-term rather than short-term we would see some amazing games. I just feel its going to be gimped because of PS3/XBOX.

            • I have to question if this game is canon or not, but if it isn't, I'm sure it will be a hit among RE fans cos it is online.

Well the developers specifically stated they're trying to keep the storyline as close to the original series as they can. The real question is whether they're doing a good job...

Are these comments meant to be related? I though L4D 1/2 wre extremely short, repetitive and absent of real story.

Well, so far everything looks quite good, being that it is kind of like the Outbreak 3 we never got. It ain't so much the game - it is the story.

I'm not really bothered that Leon can die. But it just feels awfully 'wrong' to try to kill off characters like Leon, cos a) it is not what truly happened and b) it would likely anger the fans of Leon. So perhaps there will be a canon ending where the other team helps Leon survive, although in RE2 it is clear he had none. No help I mean...

Yes, even Leon has his fans!

But like I said... I doubt this is even canon. Outbreak 1 and 2 feel more relevant to the RE timeline than this!

Well, a lot went on in Raccoon City, as long as it has the RE feel its alright by me.. The canon sucks now, its lost its true continuity and when that happens its over. Think about it, if they made an old-school RE game like CV and it was a completely different canon, it would still be totally awesome would it not?

Not exactly. The first is what I hope for from the game - if they're going to make this non cannon with the hunting and killing of people, branching storylines and exploaring the area to unlock different scenes and storyline elements just makes sense - the second, the L4D part, is the least I'll accept from the game, that it's basically a third person Left 4 Dead clone with RE slapped on the top and the chance to shoot other people who are shooting at you. L4D is, if nothing else, a lot of fun with four friends.

                          • There is a game like Operation Raccoon City called 'Killing Floor' where you have to run in teams and shoot zombie like enemies. Any 1 here heard of it before?
