Retcons create plot holes. Remember Dr. Madnar, the guy that Snake kinda blew the fuck up with remote controlled missiles to the spine? How he is just suddenly alive in MGS4 and Snake doesn't bat a fucking eyelid? And there is no mention of him other than him being shoe-horned into the story? That's a plot hole. To this day, Kojima has never explained it.

MGS does not have an Oscar winning story. Lmfao. Are you fucking kidding me? It is just as much B movie material as RE. And I was a huge fan of MGS, moreso than RE at one point.

But let's not devolve into discussing Retcon: The Series, please. Preemptively hush up about it.

        • Capcom don't care what is canon. They could say it's canon now and change it again in a few years time. Look at Devil May Cry. Or rather, "DmC". That was canon and an origin story going back to where Dante began, until people hated it so much that they decided to make it an "alternate reality". They do decide what is canon for their own franchise, however, it often shits on the previous lore the games have built up. It's like the "Chronicles" games. They have to be taken with a pinch of salt because they differ to the numbered games. Even if Capcom do say it's canon, I'll refuse to believe a retarded story where you go around killing survivors after already deploying B.O.Ws and shoot Leon. Like Darkmoon said, what's the point of having Nemesis and the T-103s if you're just going to send in elite soldiers anyway? And what IS the point of sending an elite team in to kill people when the entire city is infested with UNDEAD MONSTERS?!

I don't think that's the case, for reasons stated above. They have been insanely picky since the series began about the canon, so it's obvious they care to some extent. They don't care about it outside of Japan, though. They don't make an effort to fact-check or release essential material in the West, and the quality of translation is well below industry levels.

As for the Chronicles games, at least they're honest about what they are. "Historic summaries". And CAPCOM openly admitted they don't mean much (aside from new information and scenarios like Umbrella's End) or replace the older games, they were for Wii gamers who were complete newcomers to the series in general.

            • You need to pay more attention on this game Alexia. Wolfpack wasn't send there to kill people (This is add sometime during the mission god knows why). They were send there to obtain data from servers, CCTV footages, etc... That's someting what standart BOW's can't do. And the reason why was send USS team aside to leave that to the Monitors is, because Umbrella learned that US Government send Spec ops team to gather this evidence. Yeah it is still stupid idea to begin with, but at least it's little more reasonable.

              • That's still pretty retarded imo. They send B.O.Ws in (I'm assuming they can control Nemesis now as he is retarded like the movie Nemesis), and they send a team in to gather data? Nemesis could have destroyed the footage, he had a rocket launcher. So now the Government knew about Raccoon City before nuking it (thus risking contamination outside of Raccoon City if someone got infected and then left, really clever) and Umbrella send a team in to cover their tracks? Ugh. They already had Supervisors in Raccoon City, why couldn't they do it? It's not as if Wolfpack is a massive army, they're a select few people, like the Supervisors were.

                          • Metal Gear Solid is a good series, I agree. But it did take a huge plunge, especially given it was a great stealth series, until MGS4 come along. The only best thing I love about that series is its characters and wacky humour. The plot is all over the place.

RE1 didn't have much of a story, but what it did have gave it so much depth, made you ask questions and think about the possibilities - that is all that's important..

Most definitely. I enjoyed MGS4, but no one can deny it's icky moments. I too believe that the characters (and music), is what makes the game. So hard not to love Sniper Wolf and Boss But eh, I think MGS is superior to Resident Evil. It's all in the matter of opinion, I guess.
