Well, the only way they'll consider answering the question is by having it so you have to put it.

Sorry about the double post, BTW.Last edited by alexdz; 01-25-2012, 10:11 AM.

It's no secret that the English script has always been bastardized beyond repair in every installment in the series. I'm just surprised it is the same case with Operation Raccoon City, which is written natively in English for the first time.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

It's just..... awful....
Like absolutely no effort whatsoever to use the pre-established geography. On top of that it just doesn't look very good, just a typical shooter and doesn't even look like a decent one at that.Last edited by [STARS]TyranT; 01-30-2012, 05:47 PM.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Most of the comments I'm reading on the video are "THIS ISNT RESIDENT EVIL" and "OMG I'M GONNA GO PLAY RE2 ON PS1, DIS IS STUPID" and "GEARS OF RESIDENT EVIL LOLOLOL." Most people are uneducated on the game. Anyone who knew what they were getting into with this game either A. weren't interested or B. were waiting to pass judgment. I'm with the B crowd, and I like what I see so far. Looks like a fun third-person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe. Nothing more.
People need to educate themselves and/or lower their expectations.Last edited by Vector; 01-30-2012, 06:23 PM.

We shouldn't have to lower our expectations though, we put our good money and time into a series that shouldn't be difficult to reward us back. Revelations has managed it fine?
Indeed all I ask for is a respect toward established geography and canon - you say it's a third person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe, but take away the Umbrella logos and a couple of other cosmetic things from that 10 minute video I just linked and absolutely nothing connects to the series whatsoever. Had it been recognisably Birkin's lab, it would be an absolutely awesome lead in to the sequence where he's shot to death - hell I'm impressed they got the dialogue right - but it's far away from being connected it's practically a dffierent franchise at the minute.Last edited by [STARS]TyranT; 01-30-2012, 06:29 PM.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

They also made the lab look like it was set up to have visitors quite often. "Welcome to Umbrella." Now someone correct me if I'm wrong, but in the series canon, there were no visitors to this lab because it was top-secret. Right? I would expect the above-ground Umbrella lab (as seen in Outbreak's "End of the Road" scenario) to have visitors, but not his one.
Other stupid things I've noticed...
1. Magic "refill all your ammo here" crates. Fantastic. That adds a lot of strategy...
2. The dialogue (aside from HUNK's) is absolutely terrible. I realize that this series was never known for its brilliant lines, but this is a new level of low. As someone on YouTube said, "What is this shit, the A-Team?"
3. This melee shit is getting out of control. "If they get too close, use hand-to-hand combat." THEY SHOULD NEVER GET TOO CLOSE!!! These are supposed to be elite soldiers, not ninjas.
4. Simply put, this looks boring. Even things that I like (stuff from the RE universe) can't save the yawn-inducing cover-and-shoot, rinse-and-repeat gameplay. I hope this game sells like shit so we don't have to endure another one.
Now, onto the (few) things that didn't bother me...
1. No regenerating health. So many of these military FPSs/TPSs use that cop-out system, which further emphasizes the boring cover-and-shoot gameplay. I'm glad that they've kept the herbs and first-aid sprays in, as they are iconic of the series.
2. The scene where HUNK and the other USS guy shoot Birkin, even though we don't see it, stayed as true as it could to the original (barring the fact that the lab looked nothing like it did in RE2).
3. Nice mention of Goblin 6. Not sure if she's canon or not, but it's good to see Slant Six at least trying to pay attention to small details.Mass production? Ridiculous!
