Well Wrathborne, no offense, but clearly you didn't read the entire conversation correctly because he called me five, not the other way around. I just agreed with him. I was simply giving my opinion on what was just released from IGN so far. My side comment about them wearing glasses was just that, a side comment. However it's obvious why you took that stance but that would clearly derail this entire thread into pointless back and forth so I'll just slide over it. And everything else you said has already been stated before by myself and others. Obviously the clear objective is to wait and see what happens. They'll obviously fix it with some patch updates as it'll be their only answer. But thanks for your additional support. It's always appreciated.

EDIT: Actually, I'll address your second half of your previous comment from earlier.
I said I was THINKING of canceling my preorder. The reason did not have to do with the type of game I am looking to play but the fact that it seems to be full of errors in both campaign and co-op mode. From what I am hearing and reading it does not look good. I am being biased because I do like RE but it's hard to be ignorant when it comes from different sources that say it is full of bugs. I am very well aware it is a action game. Again, I am aware of that.
I said it before that I was not intrigued by the story but the city and how it'll come to life in the finished product. Thinking of canceling my preorder and voicing my opinion, if you feel it's at face value, so be it. A lot of times these face value determinations tend to be right. At least when it's my own. I understand you have high hopes for the game. I wouldn't pre-order the game if I didn't want it to do good.
Where was I? Ah, the ORC thing. I just have to wonder how so many minute things could persuade you to consider whether you cancel a preorder or not. So far it doesn't seem like you have much reason to enjoy this game. You claim that it's full of errors from each mode. Then you say you read it sucked when most of these previews say it sucks. And you're not intrigued by the story.
If you really believe in all that then the choice should be obvious. I'd cancel in a heartbeat because for $60-$70 I could feed a lot of five year-olds with that kind of money if I donated it to a good cause. And all that stuff you listed makes the game sound like the worst possible piece of shit you can possibly imagine. And it's not a traditional RE game dammit! So how could you possibly have a glimmer of hope left for this game when all signs point to it being a waste of good money?

As for ORC, I believe I wrote quite a few times why I said I would enjoy the game but let me state it again so you don't gloss over it. I am curious for the environment and how Raccoon City comes to life. The story is sketchy at best and never did intrigue me. I still planned on enjoying it. But recently, and again I'll state this so you don't gloss over it, there just doesn't seem to be any positive things about this game coming from those who played it.
As for claiming it has errors? I never said that. I said from what I heard and read. I wish I had the game because then I wouldn't have pre-ordered it. And you're right, I was not intrigued by the story. Funny how I mentioned that I was not intrigued by the story but the environment/gameplay a few pages back and you quoted me in a response and gave me praise because I said, "enjoy it for what it is" but now one single comment just today about how things are not looking good and you're focusing in on me. Hmmmm. Interesting.
What I believe in and what is being shown so far are both intertwined and separate. From the start, I was not interested in the story but just the environment and the gameplay. That was a given. My stance still stands on that. As the trailers came along and how obvious it became that Slant Six did not know what they were talking about, my idea on the story did not change as I was not distraught due to the fact that the story was not the selling point for me. The selling point was my curiosity. It seems however that with all this bad press the game is receiving that the game play is not really that good in either campaign or co-op. Which makes me begin to ponder if the game is worth getting at all as both the story and now it seems the game play are not so great.
I am just stating my opinion on what I heard and read so far. If you're really distraught over my opinion, as you seem to be, I appreciate your concern but I will be fine. When and if I decide to cancel my order for the game you will be the first one to be notified.
As for your extra comment on feeding a lot of five year-olds with sixty or seventy dollars, you need to stop reaching. You're obviously pissed at my opinion. It's given. Get over it.

Correct. I never did care for the story. IMO, the story is complete crap.
Incorrect on your next two assumptions though. I never said I could not find anything positive about the game or that the only thing I cling to is hoping to bring the city to life. My curiosity for what the city would look like in 3D perspective was my initial curiosity into the game and then I figured the game play would be enticing as I read up on it like everyone else. However in light of recent news and reviews, I am thinking it may not be a good idea to keep it pre-ordered if the game play is now all buggy, which I am stating yet again.
Again, the quote I am referring to comes from page 53 in which I said enjoy it for what it is in which you had no problem with in which I stated my opinion for why I was interested in it. However once I said I was thinking of canceling my preorder, you all of a sudden have a problem.
I would really appreciate if you could stop putting words in my mouth or trying to lead me on in a direction you see fit because you're unhappy with my opinion. You and I have been over this all before and it continues to lead to the same conclusion, again and again. Just quit reaching. I may or may not cancel my preorder. What I do with my own money is my own. I said I was "THINKING" which does not mean I went ahead and canceled it. Also it never came down to a thread nor anything I said would suggest it was because of this forum. That makes no sense.
I appreciate your concern and the value of your time and effort you put into this discussion with me. However for the benefit of everyone else in this community, perhaps it would be a wiser choice as to not continue this any further as I stated everything I needed to say on my initial opinion and I understand your POV. Thank you.

I've only just noticed that for some unnecessary reason they've changed the logo for the UBCS. There's like no aspect of the series they've not taken liberty with.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

I don't have a problem with if you cancel your preorder or not. I'm curious as to what factors into your decision. It's a very interesting perspective you've got here. So far it's reviews (not of the full game mind you, but rather builds from the first four sections of the main campaign and specific multiplayer modes). You say it's buggy (now from what you read as opposed to stating it as a fact) with no apparent insight on what bugs there are precisely.
If you're curious about a 3D perspective on the city you may want to check out the Outbreak titles and the Chronicles games. The layout of the city will be retooled to fit ORC's story and game play. The things of which you are not exactly fond of at this rate. So I'm of the mind that there is little reason to waste good money on something you will not like. If you're a collector like me you can always hold out for a price drop. There's no reason for you to buy right here and now.

It's called being "in the moment". It happens. Opinions are rarely all fact and I never stated it to be otherwise. Hence why a lot of my posts always say "IMO, or I think, or well I see it as", because I do not go around and state things as purely factual. To do so is to provoke a battle.
The bugs are the ones people are talking about but if you need a precise example I will use how the example on how the hunters apparently go right past you when they're leaping around and you nearly have to beg for one to come after you. That's just one example though. Another could be how you or the A.I. can get stuck at corners. Again, I'm not going to go into a huge summary of everything that I read or heard that could be wrong with this game.
I played the Outbreak and Chronicle games. The layout of the city is fixed from both the fixed camera angle and the FPV. I am referring to exploring and looking around to see what the city would look like from an RE4/RE5 perspective control schematic. Again, I never said I would not like it. I said I was thinking of cancelling my preorder. I appreciate your curiosity and hopefully this satisfies you.
And Sean, did you expect it not to be?

So you're holding a lot on your shoulders for the opinions of four levels and some multiplayer modes. Being in the moment amounts to a lunch. But a full price game? That's just wasteful spending to throw it on something you're iffy about. You also stated the game had errors as a fact so why you backpedal this comment is beyond me.
The hunter incident doesn't sound like a bug in the programming. AI being stuck at corners might however. You stick to environments in a cover system, and that may be an annoyance for some, but this kind of stuff along with characters tearing through character models and the like. These are actually something that can happen on and off. I play Mass Effect 2 and this happens once in a blue moon for example. Game can even freeze. It's still a great game despite some issues that may happen during play in a chaotic environment.
Whether you like it or not remains to be seen. The matter at hand is what is causing you to consider actually going through with cancelling a preorder to a game you're not sold on with the exception of looking at a intentionally changed environment through a over-the-shoulder camera.

You clearly are letting this get to you. I question why you continue to ignore the fact that when I initially explained my reasons for accepting this game for what it is, you quoted me and agreed until I recently said in passing I might cancel my preorder. So how come that is? Is it possible you're emotional and you're allowing this to bother you? I stated that from what I read and heard so far this game seems to be filled with bugs. Deal with it.

I'm fascinated by the idea that you accept it for what it is and yet continue to tinker with the notion of whether to preorder or not.
EDIT: By God we're running out of names.
Jack Krauser.....Jack Norman....Sergei Vladimir....Vladimir Bodrovski.
And now that we can throw Nicholai into the Vladimir camp we've got a lot to sort through here.Last edited by Smiley; 02-12-2012, 08:17 AM.
