This game had potential, it could have been good, had it not been filled with insane bugs and lame sounds. Seriously, I've rarely heard such bad weapons sounds in a video for a long time. When you compare that with other games it's just pathetic. And it's something that can be easily fixed... They sell 2 millions games and they can't even care about fixing some basic things 2 months after the game was released? What kind of developer is that.

If Capcom made this they would have given themselves more time if the game quality not up to par. They had about 18 months to get this game out which isn't a lot of time, capcom likely forced it out to meet financial year and put distance between it and RE6. S6 suffered a similar problem with SOCOM COnfrontation, Sony forced the game out early because they wanted to promote their official headset in the US, the game was not finished. Game was much improved by time it released in Europe 6 months later, though Capcom unlikely to support ORC post release like Sony did SOCOM.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

Well I got a hold of a rental copy of this and have cleared the campaign saving/sparing Leon. I've not tried online yet.
Well.
Where do I start.
The negatives are plentyful the AI is appalling both in your partners and the enemies. The number of times you could just run past threats was so frequent it's crazy. The canon is shot to hell but could have easily been intact just leave Sherry/Leon/Claire out of it. The hospital could have been a second hospital there are a few hospitals near where I live and it's not impossible to suppose Raccoon City had more than one, the BOWS and tyrant bosses were ammo sponges which made me feel like they were a imposing threat, however Leon was ridiculous. The collision detection was ghastly/laughable reviving a teammate became sheer luck which was all too frequently required giving their "CHARGE!/RETREAT" mentality. Why couldn't they stand still! Even in areas with no enemies I actually had to chase them to heal them and of course because they all scatter you can only heal one of them. Likewise with the AntiSpray which was exacerbated by an onslaught of Crimson Heads and ticking timebomb of a zombified teammate, more often than not it was easier to just euthanise them. Time to go the way of old yeller! The infection chance was pretty random too once I was surrounded and struck several times and came out uninfected yet later all it took was a bit of vomit?! I'm head-to-toe in armour with a mask on (Beltway). That said:
I found a lot of things I liked about this game.
The inventory system if you could call it that, was very good and a definite improvement over RE5. My FAS, grenades and AntiVirus were all instantly available. The number of times I had to open that tedious RE5 menu and try and heal only to get knifed just as I'm clicking "Use" . This was much more intuitive and streamlined. In RE5 if you were carrying more than four things you needed you had to use that tedious menu and you couldn't rearrange the items mid level. This system fixed that, switching between primary and secondary firearm felt right on RB, the melee was nicely done too, the animations were choppy at times especially linking between moves but to have full 360 degree melee was very satisfying. A zombie behind you was no longer a problem and it went some way to conveying the idea of them being a trained unit. The aiming system to quick turn was great too, it wasnt simply 180 spin you could tilt any angle and face whichever way an enemy was coming from. This is holding LB then turn the right stick and they move round to face that way incase you didn't notice know (I mentioned this a few times to friends and no-one else seemed to know). The zombie hostage taking was pretty good too although you basically had infinite time with it, cause as soon as you grabbed one as a shield it stopped attacking and just became a human shaped shield, it should have struggled to some extent and after a time limit of say 10 seconds it shoulda wriggled free and bit you. The sprinting leading onto a dive or a shoulder charge felt pretty bad ass too, sprint into the fray shoulder charge, melee, melee, execution, burst of gunfire; AS I BACK AWAY! (That's right move and shoot!!!!) Repeat. Hell the controls in general it seems, just felt far more fluid to me and I wouldn't be surprised if RE6 controls the exact same way, maybe less recoil on certain weapons. but I never felt like I wasn't in control. The cover system never got in the way I know a lot of people seem to have struggled with it covering against EVERY surface, but I didn't notice that at all. But of course, AI aside just facing the classic enemies was worth the bugs and the glitches. The lickers, ok they made a cameo in 5 but the Hunters, Mr X and THE ZOMBIES. I mean wait, what? I'm playing an RE game with zombies in it! A swarm of them (a horde if you will ) at times and yeah picking them off was easy but it was fun right? I mean that was one of the things I loved about the old games (RE3 had the most on screen at once as i recall) just being up against so many infected.
So yeah i enjoyed RE:ORC I dont think it was amazing but I had fun despite all the problems, and in single player too. Maybe I was helped to this by lowered expectation on account of the feedback here and on the P.U. Podcast (Nice work btw guys) and the reviews netwide in general. Maybe it was some thin thread of nostalgia and the way I've probably forgotten a lot of the smaller details others were affronted by but I liked it.
Not enough to buy it until it's cheaper or the DLC unless it's on sale but yeah I liked it. Leon boss fight excluded I mean WTF!sigpic

Hey all,
Been playing the 360 version since it came out, maybe just a bit too much. ;)
Getting straight to the point, a couple of days ago I made it to the 1st spot on the Leader Boards for "Total Career XP", name is "Lt Ryman".
I was at 9, 999, 995 ....as most know, the point system goes no further than 9, 999, 999. This put me in 1st place, ahead of 7 other players who have been there almost from the beginning(most of which are Japanese players). Must of been a team, and by looking at their stats, have only played as a team, and nothing else(lately besides the first 2 players).
Okay, when I went into 1st place at 9, 999, 995....the player who had been in first place had 9, 999, 991...others behind him had like 9, 999, 996 or 9, 999 977, etc.
The next day, signed in, before playing, checked the Leader Boards...ALL 7 seven of these team players who I had finally surpassed the night before...all of a sudden after their points were stagnent for a week or two at least, all 7 seven now were at 9, 999, 999...all of them.
The thing is, some players last two digits were at like 56 or 67....as far as I know, there is nothing to shoot, enemies to kill, etc. to acquire only 1 or 2 points in this game. For these 7 players to have notched those last needed points to reach 9, 999, 999...they would have had to pick up single points & or 2 points, and done this multiple times, which would would have had to of been done in one of the Versus Modes. For example, if you only need 10 points, kill 1 zombie, have your team mate end the match..you've picked up your 10 points.
But, I have found nowhere in this game, as to anything by killing, shooting, etc. to pick up only 1 point or 2 points.
So finally to the question: If anyone knows if there is a way to pick up only a single point or even 2 points, I would be most grateful to you on letting me know what it is. As said, my last digit is a 5 at the moment, so a single or a double..it doesn't matter, only need 4 to get that last "9", if there's a way, I'll take either!
TIA!

I just finished the game 'completley' if you will. By this I mean both the main game and Dlc. I am not sure what to think about which campaign was best. Both endings kind of sucked. What the hell was up with the spider tyrant thingy mabob? As soon as that spider attached to the tyrant was a huge Wtf moment. Overall its definatley the worst out of all the Re games accept for Survivor 1/2 and Gaiden. Compared to Revelations this game is a travesty to the series but that is compared to Revelations which in my opinion is a work of art. As far as games go if this was a stand alone title I may have enjoyed it abit more. There is just so many things wrong with this game from the a.i. to plot hole inconsistencies that I wouldnt even want to venture a guess where I could begin. For a co-op online game with your mates for shits n giggles this game is pretty good for a while but give it a week or two tops and it does getting boring. As a single player take it seriously classic kind of a game this is about as far from that as you can get.
What the hell was up with the Rail Cannon falling from the sky?? Lol! That made no sense what so ever. As far as explanations go you might as well assume that god just dropped it from the sky. The endings didnt even match up with each other you would think they would at least have taken a shot at that. If you ask me they should have never even bothered with a story and just made it an online game with a few maps and put it on the Ps/Xbox stores. So to sum up poor poor shit shity pants story, average gameplay, fun co-op which doesnt last very long. This game will be in bargin bins, sale shelfs, gathering dust in hardcores collections and in a fort of boxes in Smileys bedroom for the rest of its short sad life. Almost all my games I have an urge to pick up and play again at some point but this will never be one of them.Last edited by CrimsonElder; 06-12-2012, 11:49 PM.
