It's like Capcom wants me to NOT play Mercs 3D

    I guess you could call me an RE fanboy or Capcom "sheep", but I'm still excited for this game and for Revelations. I honestly doubt that's the entire character roster, because there's no reason to reveal all of the characters. I'm sure there'll be more that are unlockable.

    All the Capcom hate seems harsh, in my opinion. While recent RE games can never match the classic original 3, I still enjoy all of the games and I've never found one to be a terrible game. I can see why people are disappointed that the horror aspect has gone, and despite RE5 being the weakest of the numbered series in my opinion, I still enjoyed it for what it was.

    I love Mercenaries mode so I know I'm likely to gonna enjoy this title. If you know you're not that interested in Mercs, then by all means, just don't buy it. But I believe there's much more being kept secret, and the levelling up system sounds like it'll have more replayability than a extended mini-game. It also could mean that levelling up allows you to unlock content, which goes back to what I was saying about unlocking more characters. As Stu says, you can never know for sure until you play it. Be patient and it could turn out great.

      I don't think most people would have issues with folks being excited for this. Personally, I have no intention of getting it, because I despise Mercs.

      I think a lot of the backlash is that it simply feels like Capcom isn't trying very hard. It feels like they're just creating ports and creating games that don't take any risks. I still feel like there was a check list of 'Most Popular Titles We Can Use as Inspiration' when creation RE: ORC (And I still get a kick out of calling it ORC too). Still, it does have it's plus points and Revelations looks promising, if not especially for me (I like plot and while Revelations may be a good story, I think it almost has to be self contained).

      I think a part of the issue with Mercs is it's on the 3DS rather than a main console. Some folks are feeling rather left out by it's 3DSness, while some suspect it won't be worth buying a new, quite pricy console to play when RE5 mercs is right there.

        What a crock of shit.

        Seriously, did this geek who talks to stuffed-animals actually play video games in the 1990s, or was he born in the 1990s? Before anyone tries to argue, Yes, it makes all the difference.

        @thread:

        People can blame all this on Mikami-san's absence, CAPCOM being "greedy", *whatever*. Fact remains - many, many people requested this game, and those same people continue to throw fuel on the fire. Just because fans on this forum aren't pleased isn't like people at another aren't.
        I'm a blackstar.

          The whole "talking to stuffed animals" bit is a running gag with Benzaie's videos, and it's not as if he plays it without any kind of self-awareness.

          Plus, from what I could tell, he's in his late 20s to early 30s, and in my estimation he lives and breathes games and other media. While it's true that his presentation might be a little awkward for someone seeing it without context, I still think his arguments hold up.

            I don't care for RE4 or RE4 mercs. And if I do get a 3DS eventually, I probably won't bother with this game.

            But I think this would be the *ideal* portable RE experience. One 5-10 minute mission you can play while you wait for your bus. Arcade style action without an involved story. It's just not my cup of tea.

            I didn't really play Deadly Silence on the go because of the ink ribbon system, and when commuting opted for things like tetris. I found myself playing Deadly Silence at home, which was a bit pointless since I've got about 6 itterations of Biohazard 1 to play at home.

              Pretty much how I feel. I enjoy Mercs, it's a bit of fun mindless action (wish they would remove time limits though). And on a portable it seems like a good combo. I'll get it, but Revelations is what I really want.
