  • Dumb question about RE5 DLC

Hey guys, I bought RE5 (360) a long time ago and beat it. I went out of the country for a while and came back not too long ago, and I'm just settling down. I just realized there are 2 downloadable stories for the game.
Now I don't have Live, but my question is, do I need it? Can I get a friend, who has Live, to download it for me, then get them to simply transfer it over to my xbox hard drive or memory card? As you can tell, I'm not to smart when it comes to tech, so forgive mo for that. Thanks.

I don't own an Xbox 360 but many of my friends do so I often hear them talking about these sort of things. As I understand it, a way to get DLC on your xbox with out having live, is to plug your hardrive into your friend's Xbox, set up an account and get some microsoft points, purchase DLC, than put the hardrive back into your xbox.

There's also a liscense transfer tool you might want to look into which might be easier than the option above, hope this helps

sadly shit doesn't work like that. there's no master account on the 360 like the PS3 in which any piece of DLC will work for any account stored even if that person has boughten the DLC for his/her self.

I would love to, but is there a way without buying a subscription to Live?

yep. i kinda wished it worked the same for Steam. wish there was a master account that allow other accounts to use its content as long as their authorized to do so. sucks cause i only have one person who can play Portal 2 with me that i know of. he has the digital download and i have the retail (which is much easier to install on multiple PCs) and i know at least one other person who would like to play it, but he'd have to go off my account instead of his own.

no. that's what i hate about the Gold Edition. it comes with all the content packaged with the regular game, but all the content is redeemable only if you have LIVE enabled. i don't understand why they couldn't of put that shit on the disc like they did with Fallout 3 GOTY.

You do not need subscribe to XBox Live Gold to download DLC, Silver (free) is good enough.

That sucks. They should put "XBOX LIVE required" on the package, otherwise it's kind of misleading. Well sorry Paul, I guess you'll just have to wait it out. IMO, you're not really missing out. "Lost in Nightmares" is a nice throwback to RE1, but short. "Desperate Escape" is basically an all out battle from start to finish like Mercenaries. I can understand the frustration of not being able to experience them though, hope you get your chance soon.

Oh really? Well this may sound REALLY dumb, but where do I get that?

You are automatically a Silver member as soon as you sign up to LIVE, you can't play online (not a problem for you) but you can still download all the content. The only solution I can see is to take your xbox console to your friends house not just the harddrive that way any dlc will definitely be associated to your console and thus available offline. It is possible to play dlc from another hard drive on a different xbox but only if the original purchasers account is present and signed in to LIVE to authenticate it, this measure was used to prevent piracy . . .

I think you only need the free silver account to download and buy games.
