  • Resident Evil 6 teaser at E3?

Want to know what to expect from this year's E3? We've compiled a list of the confirmed games of the show, plus some rumored titles you might just see.

    Wouldn't this overshadow ORC?

Or Revelations? Or Damnation? Or Mercenaries?

I don't think so. If they do show something it'll be like a 90 second trailer or something. And knowing Capcom they'll change it up enough by next year you won't even recognize the game.

Not really since main RE sequels these days never end up like the early trailers imply. The final build could be quite different.

Just look at RE5s reveal to what you got.

At most it will be a teaser, but is there a such thing as just too much Resident Evil? Capcom might be pushing that boundary, and I fucking love RE.

Hell RE4 ended up being a VERY different game than what the first trailers revealed. I think it's safe to say we should all be skeptical of Capcom this time around.

Well, RE1, RE3 and CODE: Veronica all stayed more or less the same from there introduction to the public to what we ended up getting. It's only RE2, RE4 and RE5 that ended being completed different, and even RE5's reveal isn't too far away from what we ended up getting. Outbreak had some character changes and some of the areas got dropped, but it's still pretty much the same.

Still, with three new games on the way and two ports comming, I'd be surprised if Capcom announced RE6 now. But that's because I think very little of there creative team, I admit - I think they're flailing in the wind, trying to work out where to take the series. Give than the three new games are Mercs, which will have a limited and likely non cannon plot, Operation Raccoon City which may or may not be cannon but is deffintely set years before the current storyline and Revelations, set before RE5 they're doing one of two things - going back and retconning in a big bad boogey man to be a serious new bad guy, or buying time until they can work out what the hell they're doing.

At least, that's how I'm reading it. I know nothing, at the end of the day, and tend to a pessimist when it comes to video game companies.

This is exactly what's happening right now, if the developers are to be believed. According to Kawata, Revelations has a much more extensive script which creates a lot of work, so I think their writers have their hands full with that game at the moment. Also, I still think that the developers fear to move forward with the storyline after the series changed so much. However, it is very likely that the concept for RE6 is already complete (that is, rough outline of the story, setting etc. is decided), so a reveal at E3 is possible, although I don't think it will happen.

I think any news regarding Resident Evil 6 will overshadow the current titles that are in the spotlight. I think an announcement could go either way. Maybe Capcom is planning to go all out with Resident Evil.

It's one step forward, I guess. But Capcom and waiting are two things I don't like to be prolonged.

Funny, cos I liked that '05 teaser for RE5 more than RE5 itself. xD

There is such a thing as too much RE. Especially when its mostly filler/non-canon crap that is being produced to fulfill their present strategy of milking the fuck out of it.

I guess it comes a time when a franchise stops being relevant. I don't think RE is in the same boat as Megaman or Earthbound, though. That of franchises that are no longer fresh and need to be retired (at least for a while).

But if RE6 and Revelations fail to deliver, then I'll probably consider eyeing another franchise to dedicate my admiration to.

Maybe Angry Birds will do the trick.

Ha! You kind of took the words out of my mouth. Not that I really have a way with words sometimes!

I too feel that Capcom have milked the series to a point where you just get bland games like The Umbrella Chronicles, etc, and have to wait a LONG long time for the next actual RE sequel.

The Chronicles games were nothing special, IMO. They don't even play out the same as the RE games anyway, so I don't count the remade levels as canon. Like most people, I only played the two Chronicles games for the prequel stuff. Like Richard helping Rebecca, Krauser being in South America with Leon, and Wesker taken over at the helm. It was interesting while it lasted, but now to play those games... Well, co-op is cool. But otherwise, I don't bother...

RE5 wasn't that great. Kinda like RE4 all over again, although nowhere as fun this time around. Seriously, RE4 was not scary but it was a cool action game. RE5 was mental. Sheva was the most useless AI partner you could end up with. Well, again co-op means you can only blame your HUMAN sidekick, not the damned computer...

I really think RE lost it along the way. Yeah...
