  • 15th Anniversary Interview with Richard Waugh. Submit your questions here!

Mr. Spencer from Project Umbrella/The Horror Is Alive was kind enough to allow for this interview be hosted on Project Umbrella. I've asked fans from other sites as well to submit any questions they have for actor Richard Waugh who is known among the Resident Evil community as the voice of Albert Wesker for Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil 4. Please remember to be respectful and give your questions a lot of thought before posting them. While I can't promise that yours will be selected I will choose the cream of the crop to ask him. So little fishies come see my interview.

Your questions. I WANT THEM. NOW!

Did he contribute to the lines in regards to say, animals. Like the "Oooh little fishie line" or how about how Alyson Court feels there is sexual tension between her character Claire and Richard's Wesker?

How does he feel in that regard from another voice actor commenting in that way, that was involved with the games?

Also, how many times did he say sample? Or hell, what about being served breakfast by Sally Cahill (Ada Wong)?

I'm curious to know why he was hired to voice Wesker in RE0 yet it was Peter Jessop who voiced him in REmake. I've always wondered about the inconsistency in such a short space of time between games. Peter Jessop is like the George Lazenby or Timothy Dalton of the Weskers, with Waugh obviously being Sean Connery, the original and most popular.

How I've always seen it anyway.
      See you in hell.

Except Waugh wasn't the original. ;)

          Technically, neither was Sean Connery

Obviously, he has had quite a few roles in his career, but did he feel that Wesker's was somehow big or special? Points for honesty to that question.

Does the role feel "unfinished" to him after he was taken off the series?

He said in a previous interview that he was responsible for some of the lines getting changed to sound more natural. Was there one important line in particular which he conceived and can still remember?

What was his personal favorite project in the series? And what the most stressful? CODE:Veronica, Wesker's Report, Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil 4, or Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles?

It seems his performances between CODE:Veronica and Wesker's Report (and the latter games) are miles apart quality-wise. What does he think the reason for that is (different voice-over director, etc.)?

For both CODE:Veronica and Resident Evil 4, there were re-releases with extra content (additional cutscenes / "Separate Ways"). Did they finish all the lines of a game in the initial recording session(s), or was he asked to come to the studio again after several months? If the latter, was he surprised by this?

Any particular fond or funny memories on working with the team?

Fuck it, let's just use Prime Blue's questions. She/he has pretty much covered everything.

Ask him if he has actually played the games.

I'd be interested in finding out who decided on the accent, if that was something Waugh came up with himself for the role, or if he was directed to give Wesker an accent.

His thoughts on Wesker's death and on D.C. Douglas' version of the character.

Was this an audio/video interview I'd ask him to say the "total global saturation" line.

That was answered here. They gave him some pointers, but the bulk came from Waugh.

God no, we don't want him to be that kind of interviewer...

Now I remember reading that a long time ago.

It seems Waugh was misinformed as to why he was replaced. Or maybe he wasn't told period, and he formed his own conclusion? Maybe we could get some clarity on that.
