Oh, and while I'm thinking about it. The way I described solving the burning van puzzle, with the rooftop valve and valve handle, is just one way that a RE2/RE3 modder or hacker COULD do it given the game engine and the tools at hand. Is it the way it actually was in RE1.5? I dunno. We may never know. Whether or not those reconstructing RE1.5 do it like this is entirely up to them, but at least now they have one workable solution as a guide. You guys could probably think of a lot more ....

That was what one magazine said.

About the burning-van: I think Leon put it out, one of the 1.5 screens shows the flames shadows on RPD's roof. Also, in another pics, it shows the van angle. One pic with bigger flames and another one with lower flames.
While in Elza's scenario from PSM Footage, the flames can't be seen or heard, but the flames shadows on RPD's roof are gone.
EDIT:
Here is the comparsion from the fire on and out,
on the left, low fire, on the right, high fire.

Part 4 is up. Taking a break for a while to do more research. Sorry, Alzaire, about the double posts, and glad to hear from you. Will try to do better next time.
You guys are probably right about the back door and the burning van. I was just trying to make something workable out of what we had. If you look back at Part 1, when Elza first arrives, she finds the east lobby door locked. That probably doesn't happen in the actual game. What probably happens is that she goes in, all the way to the end, and finds the back door blocked by the box. I did it the way I did for two reasons. First - to set up my version of the roof boxes. Second - I only have two images of the first floor east hall, and they're from the view of coming down the hall from the back door, not the other way around. I was trying to save myself and the reconstructors some trouble. Thus, in my "walkthrough," the only times Elza ever takes the east hall is when she's coming from the back door to the lobby, and she does it as little as possible. Oh, well. A bad example still has its uses.
I put my working RPD maps at the end of Part 4. They're the last 4-5 frames - stop the video to look at them. They're probably no more accurate than anybody else's, but you might like to see them anyway.Do you know where I can find the final build of Resident Evil 1.5?

2F map is way off for sure since a few definite mistakes from known info. At the "junction" at 2C you have a path going left of the medical room. There is no path to the left. The wall ends and the hall curves right going past the medical room doors. The hallway leading to the media/medical/radio hall (where you have the elevator hall) is wrong as well. The hall is longer before it curves into a shorter path to the double doors leading to the sign hallway.
While there is no way to accurately map the 2F with current info, can at least give you the corrections for errors from available info.
The path to the left of the front balcony on the outside is incorrectly shaped as well. It wraps around the front of the building on the west side.
The 1F and 2F maps are the only one I could stop the video frames on, so I can't comment yet on the others at this time.sigpic

Thanks for the pointers, Alzaire. You really know your stuff! I knew these maps had issues. I just needed something better than those old RPD maps that have been floating around for years to really "walk it through." Not spot-on, every-dimension-100% accurate, just enough to make sure that the walkthrough actually worked. I was thinking somebody else might find them useful, even if parts of them aren't quite right.
Oh, in deference to the many comments you've made on the RPD basement, I deliberately left the descriptions of its layout past the main hall somewhat vague. Seems like every time I tried to fit those puzzle pieces together I came up with a different layout - probably like everybody else before me. As you've said many times before, not enough data. I'll most likely be doing the same with most of the sewers once I get back to work.
That business with shooting the water pipes for solving the burning van? Hmmm ... interesting! I can see that happening in an RE1.5-based RE3 mod. It would be like Jill shooting the valve in the steam pipe when the zombies attack her and Nicholai in the Umbrella administration building. Dunno if you can do that in RE2, though. That's why I went with the tried-and-true "valve and valve handle" solution, even though it might not have been what they actually did in RE1.5. Remember, under all the drama and action in my videos is supposed to be a workable walkthrough that somebody modding or hacking RE2 or RE3 into RE1.5 can actually do. We know the valve-and-valve-handle method can be done in both of them. I wanna play more than one room next time! (apologies, modders & hackers) Shooting the pipe would only work in an RE3 mod or hack, I think. If I'm wrong, I apologize.Do you know where I can find the final build of Resident Evil 1.5?

Part 5 is now up, covering the sewers and the arrival outside the Umbrella chemical plant (aka "factory," aka "warehouse," et al.) Again, I've been deliberately vague with the map due to lack of data. Thank goodness the rest has been mapped! I've also taken Parts 1-4 and combined them into one video, with a legal release, for anyone who wants it.
Looks likes this is going to be 7-8 parts, all told. I'll also filing everyone's suggestions/corrections away for Leon's game - "Another Story of RE1.5" - when the time comes.
You were right about that 2F hallway, Alzaire. Finally found some extra images on an old and grainy copy of a Black Crow map, and they confirmed what you said. I wish I would have had those earlier. Another thing to fix for Leon's game later on.Do you know where I can find the final build of Resident Evil 1.5?
