  • Resident Evil 6 confirmed...

The Tokyo Game show on Sept 15 will have the first details on the game. My feels on the last game are already know and I dont know what hope I have left for the series now that the people who made it what it was are all long gone, but I guess curiosity counts for something.

Well, it'll be nice to see what's what. I assume we'll get the standard tiny Capcom teaser trailer with no gameplay and everything will be changed in it, so I guess we can use this to eliminate possible plot points? Hopefully we won't also get the six years of development as well...otherwise it'll be a PS4/720 game.

Could be a fake, just saying.

A lot better than the 4 and 5 logos.

Well Sven did say that Resident Evil 6 will be "ambitious" and would be a reboot, in the sense of a new direction (like how Resident Evil 4 could be classed as a reboot) and concept. And considering that Kawata and others seem to acknowledge that Resident Evil was always about horror, and given they saw the feedback and reception from both press and fans of how Resident Evil 5 was more action driven, I reckon it'll be more survival horror again than before. This is probably going to be the most interesting title to see if Revelations is anything to go by with what they want to do with the series.

I wonder why does Capcom keep adding numbers to RE games' titles, when we have games like Code Veronica and Revelations that even without numbers still belong to the main storyline.

I hope they've heard people telling them to bring back horror, but RE4 is probably the most acclaimed game in the series. And possibly the biggest success financially.

I'm trying to maintain a stance of, 'Sorta kinda hopeful but expecting Capcom's usual level of bullshit.'

Just remember their sad, soiled reputation.

                  Gameplay>story is a first.

An unveiling does not guarantee it to be the final product. Chances are it's to generate hype while they sort out how to actually design the game.

Expect the unexpected pretty much if Dino Crisis 3, RE4 and DmC are any indication. It could be a rise or fall in that regard when it comes to change.

And above all never fall into the mindset that the launch title is worth the purchase. Even with DLC in mind you must always expect some disc based exclusive for the extended cut to generate some sales.

Capcom releases have to be met with caution so let's see what happens when it happens.

There is a reason why I refuse to buy Capcom games new these days...it won't be worth it.

Well, CODE: Veronica certainly. I doubt Revelations will be worthy of Main Title status. It's a prequel game (Which, it occurred to me, automatically ruins part of the horror element the game's supposed to be returning to...we know Chris and Jill live) on a handheld console that a lot of folks simply don't own yet. Doesn't bode that well for it, plot wise.

Sales. That's all. Numbered titles sell more and generally have bigger budgets (because they're expected to sell). They confirmed this at one stage.

Kawata already stated that Revelations was going to be a "big" Resident Evil title and that it's a direct sequel to RE5. When they said sequel, they didn't mean chronologically but in terms of what the game has to offer. So no, Revelations is going to be a main title, just like Code Veronica.
Also, the fact that we already know that Chris and Jill live at the end doesn't ruin the horror aspect for me. We always know that the protagonists are going to survive, no matter the situation. Who thought Chris was perhaps going to die in RE5? Or Leon in RE4? That's the point of the game : the protagonist must survive at the end of the game.

Regarding RE6, I'm a bit curious to see how it's going to look like even though I think RE6 is not necessary. RE5 screamed "final chapter" to me, so I always thought that RE6 would feel awkward. I'd much rather have a REAL reboot of the series, like a completely new canon with a reimagination of RE1 or RE2.

A reboot would just be RESIDENT EVIL with a fancy "innovative" logo.
