The only issue with this being numbered titles seem to go in chronological order. The only mixup there is RE2 and 3, where all of RE2 happens during RE3. However, for them to not only go back in time for a numbered title, but go back as far as 2004-2005, I just don't see it as plausible (but nonetheless I do want to see Ada and The Organization). This is what the non-numbered main entries, like Revelations, are for.

    • Carlos, Billy, Rebecca and Sherry simply aren't interesting characters. They can't carry a game on their own (as evidenced by biohazard 0). They're boring and were side-characters for a reason. Their stories are also closed off. Carlos was a mercenary, he probably continued being a merc. Billy was a convict sentenced to death by the U.S. military. He went off to try and live his life. Rebecca was 18 years old when she got involved with the mansion incident, do you really think she stuck around? As for Sherry, she was kept under the watchful eye of the U.S. Government.

Ada, HUNK and Nicholai are the only interesting characters left in the series and I don't think we'll be seeing Nicholai anytime soon despite his evident survival.

      • Agreed.

And even Nicholai, there's no need to bring him back. His motivation was money. I bet that he's now on a beach somewhere enjoying his reward.

HUNK will star in Revelations and I bet that we're not going to see him after that.

Ada is the only character who needs a big comeback because there are so much mysteries surrounding her.

I've never understood why people wanted all these side characters to come back. I mean they were relevant only for the game they appeared in.

But I'm sure that since so many people want them, Capcom will finally listen to the fans and bring Rebecca and the others in a future installment. Ugh.

Returning side characters are better than new ones we never see again.

I'd much rather have Barry at Jills side in Revelations than Parker, and Rebecca instead of...what was it? Jessica? Hell, depending when Revelations takes place exactly I'd rather they have Angela join the BSAA and replace her.

We don't know anything about Jessica and Parker other than they are BSAA members. I will not call them worthless without even knowing their real involvment within the story. Who knows? They could very well be interesting characters. Whereas adding Rebecca and Barry would feel forced. We don't need mindless fan service.

I strongly disagree. New side characters can add something fresh and interesting to the story.
Steve was perhaps annoying but he added some depth to Code Veronica's story for example.
Same for Billy even though he felt a bit out of place.

In my opinion, Capcom just needs to make them more than just sidekicks to the main protagonists. That's it.
Sheva felt unnecessary for example, because she didn't add anything to RE5 story other than being Chris' sidekick.

I don't give a rat's ass about the old side characters. Their stories are done. There's no point in bringing them back.

            • I think Angela is more than happy sticking with Harvardville, she does love the place afterall. Can't imagine her leaving it all behind to go on some trip around the world fighting bioterrorism, a cause I think she would want no part in considering what it did to her brother.

Or rather, fighting against bioterrorism. That destroyed her brother in the end.
              See you in hell.

That was also '12' years ago, and they were all relatively young at the time. People change in '12' years.

Being a sequel to RE4 doesn't mean it has to take place in 2004 or 2005, though. It has more to do with what happened with the characters in the game, namely Ada and Leon.

'12' years doesn't make them interesting.

                    • When is TGS exactly? I really do hope RE6 is shown at that event. But it could be another damn lie.

Capcom can make them interesting, it's just a matter of being well written. Chris and Jill aren't interesting and here they are.

                          Exactly.

Regardless of the fact a character being interesting or likable is a matter of opinion, what I mean was that 12 years is a great deal of time for the character to develop into something a little more interesting.

The Tokyo Game Show, it's always held in September. Developers showcase their new products there if they haven't been shown at E3 earlier in the year.

Capcom also put out a Tokyo Game Show (Year) Capcom Special Catalog DVD with trailers and the like on it among other things sometimes.

                            TGS on Wikipedia.

                              Hmm.

                              Exactly.

Not really. They already gave all of those side-characters closure. That is, there's nothing for them to develop on. They are gone. The only way of bringing them back would involve being extremely contrived. Do you want another Metal Gear Solid 4: Coincidences of the Patriots?

I meant that neither Chris or Jill are interesting characters, so saying that the likes of Rebecca and Carlos aren't interesting isn't really valid. Capcom could make them deep and interesting characters, Chris and Jill as well.

Also, what's Rebecca's closure? Even if there was a file just saying "she decided to follow with her life and never cared about fighting bio-terrorism" it would still be something, but there's nothing.
