      Because the characters were destroyed.
Because the protagonist has psych powers (WTF?)
      Because Jill smokes.
Because Carlos looks like Chris, and dies.
      Because Nicholai is good.
      Because Nemesis is good.
Because Claire is blonde. (Only in the third)
      Because Chris looks like Billy.
Because Wesker was defeated by a bomb.
Because Alice takes the role of all the other characters combined.
And the main reason, because it has the name "Resident Evil".
YES! You summed it up so well!

No. You really don't. It's not as bad as Extinction but there are still an awful lot of problems with that movie.

The main one is the slow-mo.

For me, it was just the crappy writing. Why are the zombies evolving? How have they started to burrow through concrete? They're not showing any modifications that could do it. Why is the Executioner there, who made him and gave him that axe? Why the fuck is Alice firing coins out a shotgun, and how does that even begin to make sense? Why make such a big issue with the clone army and kill it off in the first fifteen odd minutes? Why was Alice closer to Claire and Chris than they were to each other? Claire can be kinda forgiven, but Chris knew who she was. If the virus has eaten all the plant life, how do they still have oxygen? And more plant life?

And those are just the issues I remember off the top of my head...
