Resident Evil HD Revival New screens and vids

OK guys got around to playing revival selection today.

First off I am quite pissed at the PS3 version. I mainly bought it because I wanted it on disc, well scratch that off. I inserted the disc and it popped up in the XMB. I went to launch it and well the screen slid over (like when the disc has videos) to a sub menu and it showed icons for both Bio4 and BioCV. After installing both, you no longer need the disc it seems! You can launch it off the HDD and not off the disc! This is infuriating as the only reason I bought the JPN pressing was to avoid installing it to the HDD. Well after you install both the disc can go right back in the case. WTF CAPCOM! I'm sure some of you bought it for the same reason I did and that was in order to avoid installations. Hell I should have waited and bought the DLC versions.

Secondly, BioCV looks incredible. Don't let the screen shots fool you as it's still very crisp and not nearly as dark as the screen lead you to believe. All the original voice work and music is intact it seems but alas the FMV's are just upscalled and not re-rendered in HD.

I will give further impressions as I play more.

Well at least you can be happy you got the cover and the cds i know it must suck if the soul reason of buying it was for avoiding installing them that i do agree on... it sucks big time but at least be glad you got the cds and cover

Anyone following cvxfreak on twitter? From the sound of things the 360 version is so much better than ps3 sadly. Guess I will download them for 50% off after all because I don't want to pay full price for poor quality.

I have the XBOX and PS3 versions but have only tried the PS3 version. Will try the XBOX version later on.

The FMV's look so bad it isn't even funny. Pixelated blurry mess. Otherwise the games look just fine ;)

Still pisses me off how I can't run them from the disc, but rather have to install them and run them from the HDD.

My brother checked out the XBOX version and it doesn't look all that different. They look nearly identical to me so who knows. But the XBOX versions still requires you to install. Man this still pisses me off. DLC on a disc. Too bad it's not like Rec Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare....

okay so in the end they both kinda look as bad ? or as good i dont know how to say it i havent checked them out but yeah it does sucks with the whole installer thing

I had that issue with Dragon Age Ultimate Edition, I expected everything to run from disc but all the DLC + expansion is just like a file you would download from PSN and need install, stuck onto a disc.

I suppose you could rent the game and keep all the DLC forever.

Do you know if the XBOX version works in US/PAL systems? Dunno if you've a NTSC-J console system. I ask this because my seller notified the Asia version only works in japanese consoles, so your testimony gives me hope, Could you clarify your case?

Do me a favor. Check the soles on the bottom of Leon's shoes and tell me if the red design is on them. It's missing from the ps2 version but shows up on GC/Wii.

Are the installs restricted to one console? Or are they like Fallout's addon retail discs that can be installed multiple times? That would make me a happy man.

They both look really good but Bio4's lighting is kind dodgy on both systems. They did improve it and characters can now cast shadows but they don't stand out enough. You have to look really hard to seem them. At least Bio4 uses the NGC/Wii assets and not the low polygon PS2 models/textures. I am sad to report that there is no PS Move support. I kinda wanted Move support, but maybe there'll be a patch later. Oh and should I note that some audio on Bio4 is compressed? Examples would be enemy grunts, melee moves, and death sound as well as various other noises.

BioCV looks very good and it seems some textures and models have been updated (maybe a tiny bit, but not a ton). All the FMV's are just badly upscaled and a blurry and pixelated. The lighting and blur effect look rather nice and IMO make the game more realistic.

I was wrong you do need the disc, but it runs from the HDD My bad guys... I just briefly launched the game and that's it. Once you launch a game it will ask you to put the disc back in.

It's restricted to that console because it needs to have the disc inserted.

I have both a NTSC-J and NTSC-U console and in the U model nothing shows up when the game is inserted. So it's NTSC-J only.

I wonder why this new version has compressed audio? The PS2 and PC version had that flaw. Not the GCN or Wii version.

I'm also reading some disappointing stuff coming from cvxfreak.

This is what some big wig at the Capcom-Unity forum had to say to defend the stuff they put on sale (50% off!):

The original architechture of the games comes from 'last gen' hardware so a lot of the stuff your posting about would mean pretty much rebuilding the games from the ground up.

With RE4 HD and RECVX HD we're not trying for a 'REmake' treatment, but introduce them to a new generation and give fans a chance to revisit two of the greatest RE titles to date at a value price point.

Adding in additional features/content is not only difficult with existing software, but would most likely result in an increased cost to consumers as well, which neither you or I want.

The guy above is probably a user that became a mod and doesn't know crap about what he/she is talking about. But whatever.... I doubt Sven will step up and say anything about it.
