liked the first one, liked the 2nd one. didn't care for the 3rd one, didn't watch the 4th one. also, Degeneration had terrible animation on Leon.

@ Canas Renvall,They might be non-cannon to the games, but the movies sure as hell disgrace the Resident Evil name.Degeneration will always be the true Resident Evil Movie as well as the upcoming Resident Evil Damination. That movie just kicks major ass.and so will Damination.
Anderson is just a shitty director. He's turning Resident Evil into something its not.A 1970s style kungfoo movie.so disgraceful.and dont tell me that the sales charts say otherwise because i don't care what it says.these movies should have never been made.if they were gonna be made it should heve been made by a director that deals with zombie horror movies(George Romero and yes I read his script, its alot better than what anderson wrote).Last edited by BrionIrons; 08-13-2011, 09:19 AM.sigpic

(And yes, I've been called a liar and a troll for saying I like them, as well as mentally ill and straight up fucking retarded, among other such things. Many of which I was called on this forum. For liking a movie. Gotta love rational people. )
The nice thing about them is the fact that they're not related to the game canon. They don't affect the story of the games, so they can go do whatever they want without hurting the game canon. And I'm totally okay with that.
Unlike Degeneration. Which is part of the game canon and not only was a completely shit pile of trash (in my opinion, of course), but was completely unnecessary. They could've just shown the last five seconds of footage showing the Tricell logo and it would've been better than the movie as a whole. It was just an opportunity to make Leon look as badass and godly as can be when animated by mere mortal man.
And as much as people bitch and moan about Milla being a Mary Sue, Leon is just as much of a Gary Stu.
She can kick glass out of the air (without the effect of her powers, which are gone in Afterlife), he can defy gravity with a stupid grappling line. She had some telekinetic ability, which is the reason for everyone screaming godmode at her, yet Leon (perfectly human) is totally allowed to walk around with an entire military-grade armory that shouldn't be humanly possibly to carry easily, let alone use effectively. And even without the whole "gameplay mechanic" part, we know that in canon, at the very least, he has a handgun (so he has a holster), a TMP (Separate Ways), and then a shotty and a rocket launcher, as well as a revolver (all scattered through the game instead of buying). So where would he put all that on his person and backflip over lasers (something Alice never actually has to do, powers or otherwise)? Even being more realistic and saying he only gets the TMP, handgun, and shotgun, he looks like he'd have nowhere to holster them. You can't expect him to Rambo a TMP in one hand and a shotty in the other, let alone a pump-action, the entire time.
And again, the fact he can Neo over walls of lasers is bad enough, but the fact that he has all this extra weight on him makes it goddamn impossible outside of Capconian logic.
So don't go bitching about Alice without looking at Leon. Both are offenders, but in my opinion, Leon is far worse for the simple fact that he is supposedly a normal human being. And Alice tones it down severely in Afterlife (if you look at it objectively, of course, not something people do often around here) compared to the previous two. The most insane thing she does once becoming a normal person again is kick a giant falling glass shard into a dog. Yeah, that's a bit much. But compared to the shit Leon was pulling? Psh.

I liked the first anderson movie, probably because it didn't involve too much of the game plot so it was a nice stand alone story. Then came Nemesis, carlos,a tyrant, Jill, Chris, Clair, Wesker and I've hated every movie since. I understand some people like the movies, but I just can't do it. I know you're not supposed to go in thinking that you're about to see a movie based on your favorite game, but I really wish they would have changed the name for the movies, like, Paul Anderson's "Evil" or something. I hate how people that don't play the games will see my Resident Evil shirt and comment how Alice is such a badass.
I thought Afterlife was better then the previous two, but that's not saying much. I really thought they couldn't go wrong with Degeneration but IMO it's boring as shit. The CGI is also kind of crappy in some parts, with Leon looking like a lifeless cardboard cutout. I feel like the cutscenes in the games are better then the movie, which I have no idea how that works. Anyways, here's to Damnation. Also, I really wish they would quit almost always releasing the live action movies at the end of September, they've ruined my birthday (Sep. 30th) like three different years now. Every year I just pray that Oct.1st will hurry up so they'll nuke the fucking city already.Last edited by REmaster; 08-21-2011, 09:13 PM."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

The first one I thought was decent to sit through. Obviously Capcom did too since they did end up taking snippets of it to use in Umbrella Chronicles (Red Queen, laser hallway). I judge it on the feel. RE as a series has always had a feel about it that just makes it Resident Evil. Its the fluid combination of character, B-rated cheese galore, action, horror etc etc etc
I could go on for hours, and I thought the feel of the first film really went out its way to be loyal to the series without clogging up cannon. The second was...*cringes* bearable. It did have the elements of RE2 just simply because it was based in Raccoon City and freaking Jill had come to life *le gasp*
After that it just simply went to crap. Why...why?! Why did Anderson think the RE universe would suddenly fall into apocalypse? It sort of just discredited how scheme themed and careful Umbrella can be...well...95% of the time.
Afterlife (oh and I do own every film...why perhaps I need to sit on a couch and express my feelings and may figure out why)...*sighs* Afterlife was a complete disaster. They have spent too many films glorifying Alice as this uber character with super powers. Then they sort of just drop Wesker in with no real backstory to him and bam he zaps her and becomes king of super!
It was a disaster. I have a deep fondness for Wesker. He is, to me at least, one of the greatest villains of all time (due most on part to CV:X). This film just stole so much of his fundamentals. I was royally pissed with his "I open my mouth and I lose control and here is my monster"...wtf...NO. Talk about ruining the cool factor about him.
In addition, I would like Anderson to really open a dictionary and research the definition of "meglomaniac". This is a defining feature about Wesker. Get it right...so dreaded there is a sequel, and I know he'll be back.
