  • Resident Evil Uncut Saturn version?

Hi guys! Name's Joseph, and I'm new to this forum and I'm also the Resident Evil collector. And I was wondering if anyone has the rare uncensored U.S. version of Resident Evil game for Sega Saturn that had the intro in color. If you don't have it, then that's okay. I have just read that someone at "Capcom" slipped the U.S. and European versions of Resident Evil game up with 3 uncut FMVs for Sega Saturn. The rare versions are hard to find and you might end up buying a censored version. So I guess the best edited version would be the Japanese Version called "BIO HAZARD" for Sega Saturn. The Japanese version had the original intro in black and white but plays like the uncut intro and it also had Kenneth's head scene and original bad ending for Chris. But I'm not here for the Japanese version, I'm here for the rare Uncut U.S. Sega Saturn version of Resident Evil. I'm not trying to make you mad y'know. I'm just letting you understand I what I meant, that's all.

Anyway to identify it without playing it? Like on the box or whatever?

http://www.crunkgames.com/?p=35 : (At the very bottom right.) "Amid the controversy surrounding the extra gory original opening movie which had been edited out of the North American PSX release, someone at Capcom slipped up and a number of Saturn copies were released with the original Japanese intro intact. The full scene includes a chewed off hand and a brief clip of Chris smoking a cigarette, something that was unacceptable to Sony at the time. The uncut opening has since been ripped and spread across the internet, though special copies have still been known to fetch a handsome price."

Wow didn't know they made that by accident with the intro intact.

I have a few Saturn copies around here so let me look at them for ya.

Most likely answer is the very earliest releases (1.0), any identifiable markings will most likely be on the disc it's self, unless the back of the box is dated differently (which I doubt).

Did it have Kenneth's head scene uncut?

I have the first RE ever, in japanese.
It was Black&White, but it had the gory opening.
There was Kenneth's death and Chris smoking.

The Japanese version (BIO HAZARD) had the uncut intro, but not the intro in complete colored version (only Japanese 1997 PC versions). Why would "Bio Hazard" had the uncut intro in black & white on PSX, Saturn, and Director's Cut versions?

Probably the long box version has it.

I bought the European version of Resident Evil for Sega Saturn from Ebay which I thought it might have uncut FMVs. When I played it, the FMVs are censored. Now I've gotta to get the U.S. version which is rare and uncut.

my Sega Saturn version is factory sealed with the hangar tab on it. so can't tell you if it contains it or not. you go on ebay now, most of the time you just find a used copy.

Many of used copies could be censored... I'll buy it if someone has U.S. Saturn version uncut and sells it. Very earliest versions are uncensored. If somebody has the very first earlier copy, we may get lucky.
