I wonder if the zombie hands could grab Leon the way they did in RE2? Leon grazed a few running through the hallway but nothing happened. I like the texture of the blood in RE2 more than 1.5, but that vibrant splash of red is great."One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."

Cool vid. I hate being teased but I wish we could see a full play through with out stop even if it isn't completed to be able to witness the game. I could care less at playing it at this point. Just want to see how this game compared to RE2. Now I can see clearly why Resident Evil 1.5 was scrapped and RE2 had a fresh make over on the game engine. All of the stuff showed in the vid was good quality but the game looks too much like re1 and blotchy with the blood and zombies. I feel that capcom did the right thing to rebuilt the project. But it would have been cool to rebuild it with more of the 1.5 stuff in it being more refined and cleaner.

Yes RE2 looks much better on the attacking and weapon sounds. Along with the sound effects and the voice of Birkin is just ugly... I like the RE2 version much better of what I only can compare too video wise. Detail of the animation as you mention is much better in RE2. Still cool to see( or want to see) the "what could have been" aspect of it.Last edited by Stars_g36; 09-05-2011, 02:01 AM.

It's hard to say how complete this build was. It was 4th era, from around October/November 1996. This is probably the 60%ish version.
The final era from official footage seems to have improved animations, textures, and models as well if you compare em. I would imagine this build just hadn't been fully polished yet.sigpic

Honestly, I think the "it plays too much like RE1" thing is just an excuse. Yeah, it may play a little bit like RE1, in which certain decisions affect the outcome of the game, and there seems to be more character interaction, and but I don't really see the problem with the game. There are obvious glitches and other things that could be fixed up at the end, but the game looks awesome. And yet they never seem to explain what the problem is with the game playing like RE1, when RE1 was a hit game. What exactly is wrong with it playing too much like RE1? It is more than RE1. It has so much more going for it.
The bottom line, they couldn't milk the series if they released this game, since this game has the most features of any RE game, and the storyline doesn't allow room for sequels either.
The garage area looks awesome, and so does the factory. I love how all of the areas are modern, and realistic, and give a great sense of atmosphere, something that only RE1 PSX has really delivered in my opinion.

Not again...
Seeing this makes me feel sad...
I wish I could just forget about this game once and for all, yet I find myself unable to do so because I am being reminded of it again and again and again...
1.5 is the worst drama I have been confronted with during my long time as a videogame fan.
What do you guys think about this?
Should we thank him, or should we blame him for waving the thing in front of us, knowing that none of us will ever play it?
Edit:
I have to admit, the dieing mutant ape enemy was quite cool to watch tough, hehe...
Capcom's devs should have kept that enemy for Resi 2...
I think I am actually glad to see the curator acting like a nice person for once, perhaps he really changed his mind this time...
He wasn't exactly "fair" towards the RE community before, I guess...Last edited by Upaluppa; 09-05-2011, 04:37 AM.

I don't think this footage is new, it's most likely just something he never released back then...
Oh well, I don't really care whether he has managed to create/keep a backup of the disc for himself (assuming that the story of him being allowed to play it for a short time was true) or not, he is not going to share it anyways.

I already addressed about the nature of the footage earlier. It is old footage that he was preparing to show back in 2007 before the major shitstorm that caused him to pull anchor and sail away. Don't forget he always said he had lots of footage he never got around to putting up. With the PSM website redesign launching in a few days, he recently has tinkered with his old HDD and managed to recover various files, including these 1.5 ones.sigpic
