See, I didn't like it for a long time because it felt like a step in the wrong direction. I can't fault the gameplay, graphics (it look fucking fabulous for it's time) or story. But it lacked some of the elements that I love about RE2

Multiple everything. Characters to play, scenarios and such. From a storyline perspective it makes it a bitch - from gameplay I loved it. It felt like I had four games in one, if you get what I mean, with the little differences being enough to keep it entertaining for me. Playing as Carlos for 15 minutes doesn't really have the same feel. And while you can go through RE3 a ton of times and never actually see all the scenes in the game, it never really feels like they're that different. At least, it didn't to me.

I also prefer RE2's characters - new comers, barely combat trained compared to S.T.A.R.S, to RE3's trained fighting forces.

If Carlos (or, better yet, an interesting character) had gotten a full scenario, I'd probably have loved RE3 forever and ever.

So you didn't like it as much because it didn't follow the exact same formula? That is usually one of the biggest complaints with the series in general.

Sorta, yeah, because it dropped the two characters per game thing. It just felt like there was less to RE3 because of it.

Never saw it as a problem, each game in the series was notable for being different. The first two had multiple characters, but implemented the story around them differently (BH1 had multiple choices which influenced the flow of the two scenarios, BH2 had four pre-set scenarios with the zapping system). CODE:Veronica was a single scenario with character changes throughout. BH3 was a breath of fresh air on top of being highly entertaining, the fact that it didn't follow the same formula was good if anything.

I think he obviously meant to say that RE3 was a step back from what RE2 offered us. RE2 was like a gift that kept on giving each time you played it.

I love RE3 but the story was never deep in any sense of the word. And by that I mean the story as you see it unfolding on screen not on those archives and files.

Looking back at the previews and interviews that hyped this game, the end result was disappointing in terms of what we got compared to what they had promised us. In terms of the story and plotline. Its like getting a pamphlet instead of a book.

But for a quick classic RE fix, RE3 is the best option there is.

As far as the G-virus and the T-Veronica virus are concerned, I agree with News Bot. The G virus simply makes far more sense from a scientific standpoint. It may not have made as "nice looking" mutants as T-Veronica, but I doubt Birkin cared much about the aesthetics of his creations.

What T-Veronica could do was utterly ridiculous. Seriously...

The cutscenes for Capcom's Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronices, recorded with the Hauppauge HD PVR from the Nintendo Wii.The cinematic after this one is th...

It's like I'm playing Final Fantasy. Now I realize that this is science fiction, but the effects of the G-virus could make sense. No virus could ever give someone the power to have their blood ignite; the virus would simply kill the individual.

As much as I love Code Veronica's story and atmosphere, it is definitely the point in the series where reality was sacrificed to make a more "grand" story. Then RE0 came along and threw everything reality-related out the damn window.
              Mass production? Ridiculous!

They say RE3 is just a filler because it doesn't add nothing to story and is just a protagonist in fanservice clothes running around because of a generic B.O.W. While everything else important, like the city's fate is explained in other games.
Yeah, RE3 has somewhat a weak story, but do you think it's a filler.
I hope by generic B.O.W they dont mean Nemesis.......He was probably the scariest B.O.W in the series, hell i still shit it every time he comes after, although to be fair i am pretty terrible at all of the old games

Isn't Nemesis already confirmed? Or is that Mr X?

Well we can find out what the hell was Nemesis doing after the clock tower fight.

He couldnt had been recovering for 2 days (was it 3? cant remember =p).

Theres also hes inclusion in MvC3. He has to be in ORC.

It's not a strong sequel compared to Code Veronica. But I will say it's a companion piece to RE2 for the sole fact that we finally have closure on Raccoon City.

RE2 ended with the fate of the outbreak unknown. RE3 concluded with its destruction that many later RE titles would go over as well. But this was the game that started it. Also gave us epilogues that confirmed the status of all the major players at that time.

On a side note this was the first game to create a minigame with the mercenaries brand name instead of a battle mode.

The story is weak, but the game play is effective. It recycles RE2 elements, but improves upon them. This is why Nemesis is more recognized than Mr. X for example. Because he plays his stalker with full force.
