If you're not going to have a strong story then you better have the game play to back it up. RE4 pretty much succeeds there as far as the new games are concerned.

But RE3 had a lot to offer for the classic game play. For starters I no longer needed to button prompt my way up any stairs like I still had to do with Code Veronica. The dodge mechanics were sharp. Unlike RE1 and RE2 the 180 turn finally paves way to make the tank controls feel fluid for your character. The quick time events for RE3 also offered a range of options on how to play the game. You actually had to make decisions for Jill under extreme situations that lead you to different outcomes.

I'd argue that RE3 has better controls out of games like Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, and Resident Evil 1 & 2 as far as the playstation was concerned.
    I agree.

In terms of gameplay, RE3 is where its at.

I will always look at re 3 the last escape as the 3 and not code veronica
to be honest i think re 3 is a better game.
and i belive this and remake are the 2 scariest re games there is.
dont get me wrong i love re 2 but i just feel my heart pumping so fast everytime nemesis chases me.

Honestly I never really liked Code Veronica. RE3 kicks the shit out of it IMO. Code veronica was too colorful for me and I missed the pre-rendered backgrounds. RE3 let me explore Raccoon City in a way that RE2 didn't. You got to get into the streets, hospitals, parks, restaurants, etc. It made you feel terrible for the city and it's people. In a way it felt like it was a town of your own. I remember walking down an alley and seeing a zombie just kind of wandering around in a window. I just thought to myself, you poor bastard.

That's my favorite zombie in the entire series, since it just stumbles around up there, out of reach of your weapons. Nemesis who?!
            Mass production? Ridiculous!

RE3 is undoubtedly of more value to the main series than Code Veronica. It helps RE3 is also a good game.
