RE1 Jill Somewhat Confirmed

Smiley attended Snafucon and spoke with Lisle Wilkerson - I asked him to ask her if she voiced Jill in RE1 when we found out she was attending the convention.

I would have done it myself, but I'm in Australia at the moment which is a shame otherwise I would have gotten her to sign my Glass Rose stuff.

Anyway, her response was that she's done so many games in Japan and that she doesn't remember or know the majority of the titles' for them as a lot of the time in the voice-recording stage of development they haven't got a finalized title for the game yet.

Smiley showed her the Glass Rose & Resident Evil Audio Comparison video I made (and previously posted here on THIA on the possibility of it being her) and she had a listen to it a couple of times and she said she thinks that's her voice as Jill after listening to it with her headphones on from Smiley's phone.

Another actor sitting nearby exclaimed even before she had her headphones out was "That does sound like you!!".

She's also told us that she's remained in contact with Lynn Harris (Rebecca) and Barry Gjerde (who is, contrary to the belief that Barry has kicked it - who is still around) as they're not with a particular agency and are freelance, but they worked together and Lisle enjoyed working on Glass Rose.

So more or less, I was pretty much correct in that it is her as Jill Valentine in Bio Hazard/Resident Evil.

I'm paraphrasing that bit about being independent, but she is freelance and worked over in Tokyo with Barry and Lynn. She couldn't tell me off the bat because she did a lot of performances and didn't know the titles of them.

I remember reading the interview about Alyson Court recording for Resident Evil 2 under the title "Action Game". She didn't find out till later that the game was Resident Evil 2. Things aren't that different since Alyson believed Darkside Chronicles was titles "Umbrella Chronicles 2: The Darkside" which was the title they went by when she recorded for that.

Anyway I did show her the comparison video and she does believe that to be her voice. I'm inclined to agree hearing the comparison and knowing that she works with the same talent. If it's really her then I'm very happy for her to find out. Imagine if one day you discovered you contributed to something cherished and praised by many people for fifteen years.

^ Yeah, though all other information for her and the like comes up as freelance and Barry's website says he's freelance too so I wouldn't really be surprised if it was the case.

And it's nice to hear from her more or less face to face about it considering, but I would say out of all of the possibilities in the past to have voiced RE1 Jill (such as a British singer, really guys?) she seems to have the highest chance and the sound with specific similarity are more or less uncanny to have not come from the same person to my ears.

That she's aware of it now and she seems to believe it IS her voice as Jill so that clears it up as some of the random crap I've heard as possibilities to have been the voice or live action Jill.

I know she was living in Japan for a while at the time and she recorded a lot of Japanese video games around that time period.

That's why it was much more logical to be her, so I'm glad Smiley got to show her the video!

(And I plan to, but it may not be in regard to RE1 as she voiced in a game I'm going to be covering on my website once I sort out the domain name).

I marked out the voice actors' names and the characters' names within the video and I also named her at the start of the topic. That piece you linked to is in-game/in-engine cutscene audio. Whereas the rest are with the FMVs. I found it interesting considering that her character Emi is trapped and is panicking due to trying to find the main character, Takashi. Somewhat similar to how RE1 can pan out and Jill's reactions and there were far too many vocal similarities (timing, pronunciation, tone and shifting) between her voice acting throughout Glass Rose and RE1 overall to the point of when I started Glass Rose my first thought was "Jill!" when I had gotten it in the first place of it being a combination of looking like an interesting title but it also has Barry Gjerde and Lynn Harris in it on top of that.

Lisle Wilkerson provided the voice for Nina Williams in Tekken 4, Tekken 5 as well as the voices for Emi, Emmy out of Glass Rose which were compared to RE1 Jill as her voice as Nina and other characters' do actually sound different to what we got in Glass Rose.

Smiley spoke with her in person and played the video, which contains RE1 audio too which I had gotten out of the game. Her response to hearing Jill was "I think that's my voice" and other voice actors nearby agreed that it certainly sounds like her.

Another factor is that within Glass Rose, Lynn Harris (RE1 Rebecca) and Barry Gjerde (RE1 Barry) were also voicing in it and that Lisle is also still in contact with them (they've worked together in multiple other video games in Japan) but as she told Smiley - she doesn't usually know the final title of a game that she's recorded for when she is actually recording so considering that and what other voice actors have said - I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case or if Capcom had given her a different title (like they did with Alyson Court for RE2 being called "Action Game" as the title at the time of recording).
