  • I don't think its a matter of Konami respecting Kojima, more that they have just never come into direct conflict yet. Most of Kojima's problems come from people salivating over Metal Gear Solid despite his desire to move on.

Which is a load of crap, if you ask me. If he truly wanted to move on, he would have. He has enough pull at Konami to do so.

Instead, we just keep getting the same old tired routine of "This is my last Metal Gear! I swear!" Next Metal Gear is announced. "I don't trust the new, young staff enough to handle this, so I'm doing it."

        I pretty much agree.

When Capcom did that whole financial overhaul thing. In fact, in one of their financial reports, they expected to lose important/vital employees because of the changes they were going to make. And look, it happened.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I seem to recall Inafune being one of the key men behind the closure of Clover. If he was really for taking creative risks and honoring those members of the company who were game creators first, salary men second, then at the very least, he shouldn't have come out and made the disparaging remarks about Clover that he did.

Heck, he's also a big reason Capcom has become so enamored with Western developers, and that hasn't been working out so well for them outside of, what, Dead Rising 2? It just comes across more to me as him whining about not getting his way, and now that he's no longer with the company, he can feel free to point fingers all he wants.

Honestly, I could understand if Capcom wanted to fire him had he not left of his own free will, since he's basically been biting the hand that feeds him this whole generation. Dead Rising and Lost Planet may have been financial successes for Capcom, but he basically tricked the higher ups into greenlighting them. You know that can't sit well with them.

Wow though, they seriously just talked about merchandising and played mercenaries? That's probably one of the dumbest stage shows I've ever heard. Awful. Not even any new game play of ORC or Revelations was shown? Terrible... Gotta love Capcom!
That person from NeoGaf is full of it. The special guest wasn't Paul Anderson LOL That's completely false. It was Shiro Suzuki (72), he's a known TV presenter in Japan I think. He's a big RE fan.

Are people that desperate to make Capcom look bad?

            • Yes they are. There's a lot of reasons to be mad at Capcom, but false leaks and lies don't help any.

              • How is a false leak Capcom's fault, exactly?

                • Not saying it is. What I meant was if you are going to be mad at Capcom make it something legit.

Inafune did force Capcom into green-lighting several projects. But they didn't fired his ass because of it. Inafune figured that that was the only way that Capcom would even fund said projects. Especially under their current game developing policies. He had to trick them. He came clean about that. That's how we found out, after all.

The point is, Capcom presently allows any of its top game creators to hit the bricks. If they can't stand their current policy in regards to turning them into 'salary men', then they can leave the company. So, their big names did just that. Hasta la vista, baby!

Now, I just can't imagine Konami, Nintendo doing the same. Since regardless of what Kojima says, Konami without MGS is pretty much dead. Same with Nintendo without Miyamoto or Aonuma.

Anywhoo, at Capcom we have to deal with Kawata and Takeuchi now. I dunno about you, but they haven't exactly made a lot of RE fans happy (with UC, DSC, RE5, Revelations (Rachaels HAIR omg!!!)... maybe except for ORC, which a lot of Outbreaks fans have embraced - probably because they know this is as close as they will get to playing another Outbreak game).

I just don't buy Inafune as this great martyr or something, but that's just me. I was never a huge fan of his to begin with, so take it as you will.

Its not that ppl see him as a martyr. Is just that he's the only one that has insider knowledge on what has been going down at Capcom and who is willing to talk about it.

Inafune used to be in charge of game development at Capcom. So he may still feel responsible for a lot of projects that are under way or have been cancelled. Like that Megaman game. Lots of ppl demanded to know why it was cancelled. Capcom isn't saying much. So Inafune probably felt that he needed to explain how it all went down.

Yep. He loves to play Resident Evil games. He's rather good at playing Mercenaries. He was seen playing said mini-game at the event.
