So most of the people who are modding RE2 are doing so on the SourceNext version for PC. As far as I understand this game is rare, can anyone comment on the situation? It would be nice to get a copy, however as I understand it's pretty hard to come by and I presume one needs a CD key to play it. Is there any way to legitimately aqure this game and play it on the PC?

I know you can purchase it off the Sourcenext site, but if your outside of Japan, it won't let you.

Probably a way of getting around it, but sites such as ebay, Play-Asia etc don't have it/not in stock.Zombies...zombies everywhere...

I'd use a Japanese deputy service to do it, after being recommended Shopping Mall Japan - I've been using that as other people had suggested to me to use Rinkya but when I looked into them Rinkya has some crazy baseline fees for items in comparison.
If you put in a deposit of a certain amount (maybe $20 or so) you should be able to order it by using a store order and linking them to the Sourcenext page for 2.
Unless of course someone has put it up cheaper on Yahoo Auctions Japan, Amazon Japan or other online auction sites that you could look into.

Well, I'm not an expert but from what I'm aware it's the easiest version of RE2 to mod, and if you ever want to play these mods when they're released you need the SourceNext version.Originally posted by P.I.M.P. View Postwhats the difference tho? does it jus allow u to work with mods?
So can I use Shopping Mall Japan to order the game to the UK? I would have thought there'd be a middle man around somewhere, surprised they never show up on eBay. :/

Yes, that you can. You'd just have to make an account and organize a deposit (which sets your bidding and store order limit) and make the store order. Though it would need to be paid in USD, they do ship internationally as well. Much cheaper than other deputy/middle-man services I've looked into lately.Originally posted by geluda View PostSo can I use Shopping Mall Japan to order the game to the UK? You would honestly be surprised as to how hard it can be to find particular versions of Japanese PC games in a complete condition outside of Japanese sites.
And if you do find them on sites like eBay, the price will usually be triple the price with exchange rates and the baseline fees.
An example of one would be say, pretty much nearly any of the Clock Tower games (aside from the third game) will usually cost $50 upwards to sometimes close to $200 on eBay or Amazon outside of Japan, whereas importing you could find the same things on there for around about $10.
So you have a higher chance to find things and decent prices from what I've found.

I'm interested in seeing what's the SN Version about, seen videos and such, don't really understand how it's easier to mod though. RE2/BH2 versions I have are easy enough to mod if you know what your doing...
Still will purchase this through SMJ and give it a crack
