    It's not like just Resident Evil has done it, either;
Unimplemented Zombie Damage from the origional version of Dead Island
Rainy Woods' Original Trailer with several scenes, songs and character models that didn't make it to Deadly Premonition.
Fallout 3 - some differences to the finished game, unseen areas, etc.

    It happens.
Metal Gear Solid 4 was a pretty big one, too.

Metal Gear Solid 2 even bigger. Not even the Raiden/Big Shell thing. Harrier battle on the George Washington bridge? Snake running from waves through the tanker as it explodes?

      • MGS2 was a big one, and actually was an intentional ploy on Kojima's part for the theme he was trying to represent in MGS2 as well as the concealment of his new lead character. As a result the poor guy got blasted for his efforts because of his misdirection.

Capcom can be clever, but not in this situation. And Reston you'll understand in due time.

The MGS4 example (I assume you mean the fifteen minute teaser) didn't misdirect the plot in any way. The events of the teaser still took place albeit in different areas of the world. If I applied the Revelations teaser into this scenario imagine MGS4 unchanged yet what if the teaser showed Snake and Raiden pointing weapons at each other or Master Miller showing up on the battlefield. If these events didn't happen in the game I'd think people would wonder just as well.

Wasn't that an intended gameplay sequence removed because Kojima thought it played utterly awful?

Likewise look at the Resident Evil 5 2007 E3 trailer - Public Assembly looked amazing then. Indeed didn't even more recent trailers show the area you have the QTE against the bikes in the final game as gameplay in the dark?

Anyhow - just started playing Revelations - and really enjoying but by christ Jill's new voice is saddening, the actress - I forget her name - sounds utterly bored reading the dialogue out, Patrica Lee's Jill was a lifetime apart from this.

          Things I'm really loving:

The subtle screen sway of the ship - a brilliant simple effect.

The enemies and focus on dodging and running - oh my god it's amazing - never thought i'd see the day in this franchise again. Really mimics the classic games, when the Ooze just randomly turn up on rooms you think are long secure - amazing.

Hunters at last in over the shoulder gameplay!!!

          Very impressed so far.

Also seems like the demo they release on the shop contains exclusive content, a couple of lines of dialogue and rejiggle - definatley worth keeping. If you redownload it does it reset your tries?

            • $40 instead of $50? I approve, but am suspicious.

              • GameStop has updated the price to $39.99 as well, if that gives it any validity.

Anywho, awesome to read that all who have the game are enjoying it! Can't wait to play it myself! For those who have the game, what do you think if the Raid Mode?

                • Regarding scrapped ideas, was anyone even actually looking forward to the apparent rift between Chris and Jill implied by the announcement trailer?

I always thought it was a pretty dumb idea given the fact that Revelations is set before Lost in Nightmares and RE5. I, for one, am not sad to see it go.

Haven't played Raid Mode that much yet but it seems pretty solid. It has more replayability than Mercs (both RE4/5 Mercs and 3D) and seems quite fun.
The game was a blast though. Easily one of my favorite RE games now.
I haven't seen this mentioned but I don't think you can select chapters in this game like you could in RE5. The game is indeed divided in 12 episodes but I don't see any option for chapter/episode select. Only NG+ is available and I also think you can't start fresh on Hell mode unless they don't carry your weapons over if you select a different difficulty but I doubt it. Hell mode probably has some exclusive weapons to find as well.

                    • For those of us who don't want to shell out the cash for a 3DS just to play this game, I found a pretty good-quality walkthrough/playthrough on YouTube that was just started up today.

The thing about discarded ideas is that you can only judge the stuff you do know, and without discovering how it would have gone in the final product all thoughts behind it are meaningless. Since the game takes place before RE5 one can easily assume where the tide would turn no matter what between the two characters. I was intrigued by the idea that there was going to be something turning Chris and Jill against each other and whatever they "had" interfered in their partnership. Sadly we'll never really know what.

                          • Yeah, it's kind of annoying, but he doesn't talk during cutscenes, so it's not that big of an issue for me.

                            • Yeah his voice kind of takes away from it, but at least the quality is good if you're looking into it. It does look like one of the best 3DS games to date.

If this price drop is true I'm very glad to hear that. I figured with MGS3 using the same cartridge and charging $39.99 it would kind of test whether gamers were going to shell the extra ten dollars or not for Capcom's game. And if the ooze prove to be quite the monsters I'd like to see them again in another title.

I'm more or less discussing plot and character over anything else which is why I'm not going on about them on a ship in wetsuits. If the game's development progresses in game play or improve locations and character models then I think that's understandable to gamers.

I also agree with you about Jill's new voice. Is that Michelle Ruff? Cause it certainly sounds like her voice. I miss Patricia (like DC Douglas it's mainly for her work in 5 over UC). She had a good mix of femininity and a toughness to her. Which is good because when Jill wants to be sexy she does as in RE3 and yet she's also tomboyish when she suits up and readies for a mission.

Perhaps I'll warm up to the new voice when I get to go through the game. As is I think the other characters sound fitting with the exception of Quint who really needs to die at some point in this series. When you make Steve sound tolerable then there's a problem.

It didn't help that only last summer or maybe later at comic-con (or one of those) there was a Q+A and someone said the teaser look really interesting and was it still on course like that, they answered everything in the teaser was still in the game.
