Been playing it for about an hour this morning, and honestly, I like it a lot more than I thought I would. I have very little or no interest at all in RE games nowdays, I don't look up any news about them and just play them out of respect for what the series used to be, but I'm honestly really enjoying this game so am about to spend some more time playing it. It's really tense and I'm enjoying the gameplay. I've already had one jump moment so far which is more than what most RE games have given me as of late.

Jesus Christ, I've not been this tense or this jumped in a Resident Evil game for ages, it's definitely the atmosphere and survival horror quality that has matched REmake for me (done two chapters so far), and the game does a brilliant job on really making the world a very dangerous place with the new enemies coming out of the wood works. I love playing this with head phones and 3D on, it's some of the best 3D I have seen yet and still has excellent presentation. And once again the title does another great save room track (the weapon customization room areas?) and the rest of the music really adds to making the player feel at unease.
If this what the future of Resident Evil hand held titles will be like, to satisfy those fans who enjoy the more survival horror side, then please sign me up for day one. This game has only just started and I'm very impressed how it still has this familiar jingles and exploration. Kawata has not dissapointed me yet, props to that man.

Scare spoiler - don't read until you've found Rachel again looking for the key.
Spoiler:
Holy shit, the moment when you are looking for Rachel and you return to the room with the peep hole where Chris's manniquin was as you get captured. I didn't fucking expect an enemy to look through the slot - holy christ I jumped a fucking mile! Amazing for a handheld to do this kind of thinghttp://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

On the contrary - the way the 3D sound works from the 3DS and the 3D effect in general is part of the reason why it works so well. It's a cracking game, not quite sure if it would maintain its atmosphere on a much bigger TV as well as it does on the 3DS.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

That part is probably my favorite. Hearing Rachel laugh and speak while you get to her place was a brilliant idea... and when you get there she says "Found you!". The boss fight was intense as well, I ran out of ammo and herbs because I couldn't dodge at all.

Final boss discussion
Spoiler:
Did anyone else find the final boss really tough? I didn't think he was so bad the first couple stages but then when you get 2-3 of him teleport behind you you are are just pretty much doomed to take the hit, no time to turn around and identify the real one to shoot in time (if you shoot too late he just trades blows) and if you try just running away from them you almost always get hit either by the actual claw or the shockwave from it. Felt incredibly cheap especially when they all teleport behind 4-5 times in a row.Beanovsky Durst - "They are not pervs. They are japanese."

About halfway through. Further observations.
I like Parker - I think he, Jessica and O'Brian are great additions to the universe.
I love seeing all the BSAA stuff in action, and how obviously revered Chris and Jill are.
The weapon selection is great as well, really wasn't expecting a P90 and a Steyr Aug to show up - I'm now using the AUG as my default weapon.
Spoiler:
And there was a huge OMFG moment when the COLT PYTHON made its epic return to the series. Oh beloved Colt - you've been gone far, far too long.
I'm not over bothered about the previous on movies, I think i'd of lost them and had slightly higher quality video.
Great set pieces, great location, great graphics - this game is absolutely, categorically - fucking awesome.Last edited by [STARS]TyranT; 01-28-2012, 02:05 PM.http://www.projectumbrella.net The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

I wasnt going to do it, i was going to be a responsible young adult and wait for a price drop on both the 3ds and revelations but god damn it, walking past gamestation, with those great big revelations stands and posters and i couldnt resist, so i walked and blew about 200 quid :/ ahwell the game looks brilliant, also while i was in there one of the blokes behind the counter let me have a go on the new psp. it was....imressive, the graphics were incredible.Last edited by I_Am_Nemesis; 01-28-2012, 08:20 PM.

The only issue I have with the game so far is that there aren't any unlockable costumes that don't appear in the main campaign. It kinda sucks that Chris and Jill only have 2 costumes in Raid while characters like Parker and Jessica have 3.
They could've easily used Jill's RE3 costume and BSAA Chris from Mercenaries
Unless there's some secret way to unlock these but it doesn't seem likely.

You're meant to shoot him right before he teleport-attacks you. When he duplicates, the easy way to tell which is the real one is his purple breath.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium

Revelations killed PU with traffic. On the bright side, we'll have all of the game covered when we get back online.PROJECT Umbrella - The BIOHAZARD/RESIDENT EVIL Compendium
